Two things to rant off.
First, call me weird... after trading in the BRZ for Highlander, I got depressed for over a month. Not full blown depression, but def felt depressed. Don't get me wrong, the Highlander is a great car with shit ton of features... but isn't that exciting to drive. Of course, the Highlander isn't a sports car & shouldn't be. Wife didn't care if I kept the BRZ or trade, it was my own decision. So I'm not blaming anyone but me. Just didn't expect I'll be this depressed from trading it in. To help me recover, I bought a ton of stuff for the Highlander and thankfully my wife didn't say anything about the spending. Second, yesterday my boss called me up to her office. Which is nothing new. I do meet in her office once or twice a month. Yesterday was outside of "normal" meeting days so caught me off-guard, but nothing scary. Go further let me explain the background. Some know, but I'm Librarian. My main job is to check out/in materials for the patron and do new staff training for my department. Sub job is a system wide Circulation trainer plus tester. Train system-wide how to use Library programs and test some of the programs that Library is planning to buy and see if it's worth buying or there's any bugs in the programs. The meeting in a nutshell was upstairs (specifically Assistant Director) decided to make a whole new position and transfer me up under a different management, so I can do my sub job as a main job. It sounds like a good proposal... but it doesn't make sense. 1. Sub job takes up a limited amount of time. Of course, it varies with the amount of staff we hire. Example. Nov, I only did 8hrs of system-wide training vs this month over 20hrs so far (14~17hrs more). Feb it'll prob drop down to less than 10hrs. 2. If it was a promotion/raise, it might sound interesting, but it's the same paid grade. By any means, I'm not getting paid low... nor high. There's another system-wide trainer (different type of trainer than me), he gets paid manager level pay. He does nothing other than once a yr program, but he gets paid x2~x3 times more? IDK 3. I read the job description FIVE times... but it's very vague. 4. My department is short staff as is, why are they cutting more staff out more. Weirdest one of all is, at the end of the meeting I told my boss it doesn't make any sense, so I'll email the AD (who I'll be under) to get some clarification. Without any joke, within 5mins of sending that email, Different AD sent the manager who's over my boss, to convince me to get it transferred. My boss doesn't like this transfer to begin with (along with 2 other supervisors), they're not gonna convince me to transfer. In that email I wrote "I had a few questions over this transfer, can we meet to discuss?" THAT'S ALL... nothing negative or positive. So in the meeting, my boss is gonna be there along with 2 AD. I don't get why you need THAT many people need clarification of this new job. /rant |

Car: Maybe you need a new project. Hopefully Highlander stuff is fun. If not, get a used Miata to hold you over until you are ready for another grz?
Work: Do you really think ADs have anything better to do? I wouldn't worry about it. They probably are worried you think it's a bad thing and want to reassure you, probably because it would be a PITA to replace you if you left. Whether you are actually getting screwed or benefiting from it is another matter lol. Position titles only matter if you decide to work somewhere else. Job descriptions don't really matter, they probably have no idea what you actually do. |

I got very attached to my last car that even though it was way, way slower than the BRZ and not as fun to drive, I did grow very fond for my Mazda. It was the very first car that I said "This is what I want and this is what I'll get". Nothing like settling in with a 96 Corolla with 160K Miles or Nissan Altima with 240K miles when I was a broke college student. The Mazda was my first very own car. I took immense care of it, so it was rough not seeing it on the driveway after a while. I still miss it because of how convenient it was. I'll feel even worse whenever I have to let go of BRZ. So I know how you feel. You can always hop on Forza Horizon, NFS, Assetto and enjoy some rides, just saying.
