According to what I read, the 5800X3D is supposed to be a bridge between AM4/AM5 socket/perfornabce upgrade. So it gives you a bump in performance compared to a 5900X while still fitting on a current AM4 socket.



Allegedly, Zen 4 will require upgrading to an AM5 socket, but there will be conversion kits that will allow you to use an AM4 without breaking the bank for a new Mobo. That is still in rumors.

If anything, the 5800X3D should be a little easier to get than the AM5 chipsets. From the benchmark tests it seems it is aimed for higher performance at 1080p, which having a higher end GPU would just end up bottlenecking it.

That plus the fact that both Intel and AMD are releasing equivalents of lower gen GPUs like the 1660OC /2050, which have inherently a low hash rate.



Like any new component for PCs, the first year of release is always rough and prices always go up, but chipsets are a bit easier to supply than GPUs. By the time then 5800X3D is readily available, the AM5 socket chipsets will decrease the price of say, a 5950X, which is more than enough for years to come if you have anything close to performance of a 3070ti or higher.

Just ordered a programmable numpad (17 key) so a: I can have a 10key for doing the books, and b: I can set some actions and macros for sim racing.
Easier to fit a tkl keyboard, so one of those is next on my list... Whee.

Picked it up too! Mostly because the main character is also the actor who plays Joker in Gotham TV Series, and Shameless, very talented guy. Never been a Star Wars guy but I've read good reviews about this one.

So just finished Halo Infinite and I actually quite enjoyed the story. Well mostly the stuff related to Chief and Cortana. The other characters I had no clue about. They apparently are from the Halo Wars games, notably the 2nd one. I never played those, just the main games. So this whole time I'm trying to piece together characters and plots that seem to have been taken place in another game. So outside not feeling much of a threat, or better yet, just uncertainty as to who or what their motives are.

Still, it was fun and enjoyable, though I'd say I still enjoy the other games far more. I think a follow up will piece it together better. But 343's attempt at a story arch seems rather flawed. 4 & 5 set up the whole Cortana falling apart and going rouge. And Infinite just throws a whole new arch in before it felt the original was done. Not sure how to feel other than it was mindlessly enjoyable.

Really like Ready or Not. It's an early access, could use some polishing here and there, but overall it's great!

Also, not that I'm a huge fan of police, but the fact that some soy boys from kotaku (part of kinja media shithole) are butt hurt over it is an extra bonus

just watched the intro video, and then read the kotaku review. interesting realism choices. player can't run, all suspects can move faster, and a surrender command must be issued first before other action can be taken against a suspect.

but in my book, they lose serious points for the 'easter egg' red-pill/noggin jogger thing-- way too many open-ended implications of attempting something with a fun statement that way to easily becomes murky and political, especially in a game all about serious realism.

the games mechanics makes sense from a realism standpoint. doesn't really fit with pc(personal computer)-game culture though, so not surprised at the kinja result.


i see the kinja answer, and the reasoning behind the game. it really boils down to 2 different lifestyle theories.

the prevailing theory of the kinja-way, and the general populous: expose kids to weapons, and they will use them against everyone else. it's why knives are banned in schools. it's why no one wants to encourage safe gun training classes for minors. they're terrified of the reality, and have chosen the best way to get away from it is to abandon any thought of it. their thought process is "if they can act it out online, they all want it to be a reality." so fortnight dressed the characters up in fun colors, to a snazzy sound track, and the crowd goes wild when the the 8 year old spawn camps the 'enemy' and starts popping people, er, characters, with a bazooka.

the theory i can see underlying the videogame is directly opposite of that. it works on the thought process of "knowing is better than ignoring". training kids knife etiquette, or how to handle a gun safely, and under the proper circumstances, do far more good, and are likely to encourage them not to misuse the tools. i do believe that knowing, understanding, and preparing for scenario's like that can be beneficial in real life.

just even discussing those 2 drastically different lifestyle methods is going to ruffle some feathers...

i've never been much into role-playing games, as the computer has always been more of an escape from reality than a reality in itself, so that game doesn't much appeal to me. but i can see how it can be nice to many.

Yep! at some point. I think it came out in 2017. I never got into them though. I normally like RTS games, but it just doesn't suit Halo for me.
