Brake ?

Have hade two calipers freeze because of bushing on Lower slide pins swelling to a point it no longer slides smoothly in slide pin guide. Does anybody know why in the lower caliper slide pin there is a rubber bushing and the upper slide pin is solid? Can I just remove the bushing, or purchase four solid pins for the lower. For now just removed the bushing and lubricated the pin for quick fix. Just a daily driver but sometimes spirited. 2015 FRS.

I don't have an answer as to why they are different, but I have never had an issue with any of mine swelling in 120k miles of ownership, plus caliper pin overhauls.

Have you repacked the pin grease before the seizing occurred? What kind of grease are you repacking those pins with?

--It's a known issue that improper pin grease will cause swelling of the rubber and seizing.

My guess is the wrong lubricant is being used. An oil based brake lube will cause the bushing to swell and bind up the guide pin.
You need a silicone based lubricant like sil-glyde

I did this year's ago by accident on another car. Grabbed the wrong bottle of lube off the shelf without looking. Noticed the brakes were acting weird, checked and had the same issue. Make sure to fully clean out the guide pin holes, pins and boots. Re-lube.
