One could also argue that it would also be hypocritical for Toto and Lewis to attend the gala hosted by the FIA after making incendiary comments about them. In my take, Lewis had nothing but kind words for Max, went and congratulated him in person, unlike Toto who sent a text, according to Max. So at least it there was some sportsmanship on Lewis's part at that moment, where it mattered the most. Even Mercedes released a statement congratulating Max.

It's all about optics, Mercedes know that nothing will be done, but putting the FIA and Masi in the lens of the public looks good on Mercedes according to their fans.

Probably dropped it now that the FIA is looking into what happened themselves.
I can see both sides of the argument for going or not going.

Go to support the teams and drivers.
Don't go cause F**k the FIA and Masi.

I'd say go.

Water under the bridge, at least now we will get to see the number 1 come back to F1.

New investigation underway because Lewis snubbed of the FIA party?

Article 6.6 of the rules states: "The drivers finishing first, second and third in the Championship must be present at the annual FIA Prize Giving ceremony."

The new FIA Prez has passed comment the rules are there, and will be investigated.

There's also a glitch that allows penalties to be overridden if you spam a 'Talk to Race Director" functionality.

He signed a two year deal that ends at the end of the 2023 season. Plus, he has an additional deal that gives him some job within Mercedes which I believe goes well past 2023.
Besides, he's Sir Lewis Freakin' Hamilton now, who would dare penalize his lordship?

It would just be so deliciously ironic for him to be penalized for "breaking the rules" about an award ceremony when other rules are just guidelines apparently.
