More than likely they made up a large portion of it.

I'm sure by far the majority of the victims were elderly people like my dad that probably would have had a few more years left in them if not for Covid. Most of these people had little control over whether they were exposed or not if living in a senior home.

Then there's the people that had every opportunity to defend themselves but for whatever the reason chose not to and ultimate died as a result. That goes against human nature and the will to survive but humans have become so mistrusting in such large numbers that this was the result in many cases. Equally tragic.

A co-worker's spouse has now tested positive for COVID her second time (about 6 months apart). She was vaccinated prior to the first illness. The first case was very mild, as this one seems to be so far. They think it is a separate strain but aren't sure yet.

My friend's 11 year old daughter tested positive yesterday. He has co-custody with his 2 kids but they must stay in one home only for 10 days with the mom and her partner. My friend will be alone for 10 days as opposed to picking them up from school and having dinner with them every single day as he normally does. The one kid had a sore throat and the other was coughing. I think 5 kids in his daughter's class tested positive. I heard that 1/3 of the schools regionally are closed due to outbreaks.

They symptoms appear to be milder, hopefully hospitals will be spared, but expect cases to explode by January.

it still just comes off as weird to me to count all the deaths as an overall total.

literally every other death toll number, from car wrecks to smoking is usually annually accrued.

As cases rise post thanksgiving, I can only speculate a compounded rate of transmission continues through Christmas gatherings. If Omicron becomes a dominant variant, but proves less virulent there may be some hope. Assuming its mutations don’t become even more virulent.

Exponential growth is possible without precautionary controls. We have just notched back sports venues to half capacity.

A borderline antivax friend has just told me his Q type brother and mother have recently been hospitalized with covid.

It's seriously sad how many people are falling for this sort of misinformation.

The school called for our sales managers 5 year old. They say he was exposed via another student 6 days ago but he is okay to finish out the day but has to quarantine afterwards. What sense does that make?

Company presidents HS aged step daughter also has to do 10 day quarantine for close contact. They said if she recently had covid she can come back with a negative test. She just had it a few months ago but the county doesn't have record of her having it, only the mom even though the entire household was sick and was tested at a county drive through testing station.
