Yeah, me too. But I'll admit, shenanigans sure do make the post-race discussion more....interesting.

What happens if both crash out? Has there ever been a shared title?

Which has led a lot of people to speculate weather Max will pull a Senna and wreck Lewis.
So here's a question. Say that did happen. And Max is found to have did it deliberately. Does the FIA have means to deny him the championship? eidt: I feel sorry for my coworkers. It is most likely not going to be a quiet shift. |

That is correct, if found done deliberately, he would get DQ, but he would still win because of number of wins. I'm not sure if they would take points off. The safest thing to do for Hamilton in that case is to secure Fastest Lap points in the event that something like that happens. Not sure if you're required to finish a race in order to get the point for a fastest lap.

He would need to finish in the TOP TEN Nikita Dmitryevich had the fastest lap after the second lap of this years Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps! But the point was not given as he finished below the top 10 place threshold (LAST) |

Forgot about that incident, Had to looky this up. So the story goes : After his badly-executed attempt to take Jacques Villeneuve out of the 1997 title decider at Jerez, the FIA World Motorsport Council met to discuss Michael Schumacher’ punishment. , it was revealed that he was to be stripped of second place in the championship, and made to participate in a road safety campaign the following year. However, all of his individual race results stood as … Schumacher’s actions weren’t pre-meditated. |

Thanks for the clarification, had to look that one up. Yep, looks like in any event, HAM would be SOL if he doesn't manage to finish 1st. Lots of variables to consider.

What a weird season it's been. I spent the last few just hoping someone, anyone would take the championship contention away from Hammy. "Can someone please F'ing compete with this guy!"
But then this season completely flipped for me. After watching Max be gifted the win at the Belgian-Grand-Prix-that-didn't-really-happen, it's hard for me to side with the Orange Mafia claiming the FIA is sabotaging his champion. While it was exciting at first that Max and RB had the driver/car combo to take it to Merc, as the season progressed I found myself really detesting Max for his driving style and cheering on Ham for some truly incredible driving (especially Brazil and Saudi Arabia). Max, Jos and even Helmut Marco all remind me of the prototypical 1980's movie bad guys. The win at all costs type. I get that F1 has big money and major stakes but as someone who also races - I know a deliberately dangerous dive bomb from a points leader when I see one, then another one, then another one... And that was Saudi Arabia and why I really cheered for Ham who managed to squeak out a win while having to pass a driver that was trying to strategically crash him out of race. I was on a Zoom call with 3 other long time race car drivers while we watched the race live and on the restart when Max dived in on the inside - we all said the same thing at the same time.. "Wow, he had NO intention of making that corner, great job Hamilton on self preservation." Picture of Jos and Max:
