Honestly, it didn't look that harsh on the replay to me The numbers don't lie though.

Same here. But he may have just nailed them for an instant (leaving the throttle pinned) that's hard to see on the replays I watched. Hamilton has really grown on me over the years - not always in a good way - but grown on me.

But Max? I don't know. He was a little shit during the time when DR was still with the team (and I LIKE DR). I understand he's young and talented with all the bravado, arrogance and other baggage that can accompany that, but seriously.

Not that what I think matters an iota, but I am interested in seeing how this plays out.

Edit: I'd love to see someone come along and unseat Lewis, but I don't think Max is the guy I want to see do it.

Regardless of your opinions, without Max F1 would be boring AF. Nobody to challenge LH, no big rivalry. You'd have mid pack racing and that would be about it. I'm sure the producers of Drive To Survive are having orgasms right now over that race

I am hoping Merc let's Russell race Ham next year but I'm not going to hold my breath over it.

True on all fronts. Max is useful because he makes a good bad guy. My wife has rooted for him to DNF since he joined RB. Even though he's now fast, wins a lot and crashes less often she still refers to him as Ver-stop-'in. He's a nice black-hat.

We're old so we're still Seb/DR fanpersons. The big upside - rooting against Max has rekindled my wife's interest in F1.

Russell's arrival at Merc next year should prove interesting.

They did with rosberg
Valtteri couldn't mount a consistent challenge, but on his good weekends he left Lewis in the dust.

Team rivalries are brutal. "Team" is a misnomer in F1. Botas is an exception. How he sucked it up so many times is beyond me. Guy's an amazing driver but a reserved personality which ultimately may work against him.

Looking forward to Russell next year.

As much as I would like a 22' rendition of "The Silver War" I don't see them allowing it to go to that level again.

I agree about VB. On his day he is fast as fuck.

That list is wrong.
At leas the last one is.
That should always be going on. Even at home. Even in the off season.

Great comments & civilized opinions in the last few pages!

Last Race ahead, Time for one last party.

McLaren thinks all is groovy for this next and last one, Wonder if the drivers will be wearing Bell Bottoms as well, is
the team readying some Shag carpeting rollout on the podium for them?

I somehow expect the last race shenanigans will soon be continued by HAM & VER this weekend.
Much enjoying this drama.

What I learnt from watching Jeddah is not to drive on the same road MAX will be taking.

By including the FIA in the message chain you create a "paper" trail. If you make a good faith effort to comply and the other party fails to take advantage of the opportunity - game on.
Totally agree but would add one more thing: When giving a place back, the next DRS detection point doesn't count. These two things would totally eliminate the silly games that both sides were playing at.

Also a lot of comments about Max recently crack me up. FIA set the precedent with Silverstone and Hungary that playing bumper cars only gets you a slap on the wrist. As I pointed out at the time, why WOULDN'T anyone do the same when the punishment is so disproportionately small to the benefit? I don't condone it in either case, but it's completely rational.

2 more days until FP1. I'm a fan of Lewis, not going to deny that. But whatever the outcome might be, I would fully support either champion. Max, with all of his flaws, for his age, is a magnificent driver. You can also argue about Lewis's personality and tactics, but the guy has pulled some pretty amazing races this year. Certainly this year has been one of the best in F1, even with all the drama, at least it gave it some excitement. What better than two drivers, on equal terms, deciding the championship on the last race. It would just be a shame to have a race tarnished by either a race incident or race director decisions. I want pure racing, because this is going to be one to remember.
