Something I think we can all agree on, that's a pretty shitty race track. Really hope they don't go back in general.

The track is fine, better layout then Monaco for a modern F1 car, the racing for the win would've been a shit show no matter which track was on the calendar for today. |

Exactly my thoughts. Yes it is fast, the drivers seemed to like it, but it’s awful it terms of overtaking. Safety too. But this is F1 and money talks, just like any other sport. The sport is going to move wherever there’s money. On a good note, regardless of Lewi’s constant complaining and questionable moves from Max, we have one of the biggest season endings that has happened in quite a while. Oh, Monaco should be retired from F1 too. That says a lot about any track if all anyone can say in it's defense is "Well, at least it's better than Monaco."

you mean when he backed off to let LH by so he could regain position and LH was clueless on what was happening? Nice try though….
I would chalk that up to slow communication from LHs team Regardless they are both freaks of nature driving wise. We do our track days and think yeah killin it out there and not even .00001% of their talent |

The cars are. They need to be at least 25% smaller. This is F1 and there is no reason they can't design the cars to still be safe and smaller. Quote:
True but what I assumed went through Hamilton's head after the countless red flags and VSC's at that point was there was another one. So he stayed behind because nobody had told him he was allowed to pass yet. I'd blame that entire debacle on Masi for telling the lead car to let someone by before letting the following team they are going to be let by. Also this made me laugh a little. [

I believe, and we can agree to disagree, that not only the area where Max suddenly decided to “slow down” was sketchy, there was supposed to be an relay from RB to MS about the intention of Max’s move, you could also argue that Lewis should’ve seen it coming after what happened moments earlier with Max going off track so he could’ve been ready to overtake before hand. But it was just a shit show all the way around. Correct me if I’m wrong but the norm usually is that if a driver is supposed to give way to another one, you move to the side, you don’t slow down in the middle of the road. At the same time things happen very quick at the speeds these guys manage to achieve. It was a very tense weekend, and it’s just going to get worse next Sunday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

-Slowgate: Then why did Hamilton line up right behind Verstappen? There were no red or yellow flags shown, and he had a few seconds to take a look around, which you would imagine would be more than enough to assess the situation considering how good at racing he is. Verstappen was off-line. You think Hamilton would have hesitated to pass him even for a second if his engine had gone? -yeah, could have been better handled by race control if that was the case. -lol |

That whole exchange with them was weird. I don’t get why LH lined up right behind him. Did he think something was wrong like a yellow flag he didn’t see and no dash prompt? Then again why did Max decide to slam on the brakes? Edit: reread some on this and the reason LH stayed behind is supposedly he didn’t want to cross the DRS line ahead of Max.

Brings up the question, if someone slows to let another driver pass but the other driver refuses to take the position, is the driver in front obligated to wait until the driver behind passes? For example, what if Max slowed to let Lewis by, then Lewis waited for Bottas or other drivers to pass before passing Max? Is it necessary for Max to let that happen? He's already slowed and lost time, should the stewards penalize him further if he stops waiting and takes off? That last one is exactly what happened here. He lost time to let Hamilton pass, Hamilton did not pass, he then got another 5 second penalty, just as he let Hamilton pass again. |

Lewis knew exactly what was going on. He’s been doing this for how many years now? It was still early following the tire change from RBR. They had the grip advantage at that point still. He knew that if he overtook there, he’d have to defend the DRS of Max and Max was much stronger through Sector 1.
I don’t understand why Max braked like that, but Lewis had plenty chance to pass. Max was super aggressive today. Some instances were well calculated; others were a bit dangerous. Kinda of crazy that with everything that happened today though, Max had to give up his position to Lewis for a restart, and again towards the end of the race... and yet still got slammed with a 5 second penalty AND a 10 second penalty afterwards. The comments on social media are fun though.
