10/30 Contacted dealer, was able to reserve an already allocated car with an ETA of month of November

11/9 Received VIN, with an updated ETA of month of December. VIN is 19XX

11/22 Window sticker populated at subaruwindowsticker.com

11/23 Contacted SOA, got an updated ETA of 12/3

11/30 Car delivered early and picked up

Ordered 9/4, originally "last week of November" delivery.
Called SoA mid-November, was told no VIN yet, "end of December" delivery.
Dealer texted Thanksgiving week, got VIN, revised to "12/3" delivery.
Window sticker populated 11/29, port shows as HUENEME.
<1500 VIN.
MySubaru shows "almost on its way" 11/30.
Dealer texted that car is delivered 12/1, can have accessories installed tomorrow or at my home.
Arranged for Friday 12/3 pickup.

Man, did I go to the wrong dealer in CA? Sounds like a few who ordered after me have gotten or are getting theres this week. I ordered mid-Aug with an end of October ETA initially and 14xx vin. There was one at my dealership in my same color that was delivered in what seems like the first shipment out this way. That had me excited but I wasn’t so lucky. Wonder if because I chose a less popular color it’s taking longer.

I do wonder if certain dealers in "popular" areas got their allocations used up faster. I went a bit out of my way to Riverside because they were the most responsive dealer by far. I was their 5th total BRZ order, which is surprising considering how late it was.

On the other hand, my local dealer would have been Irvine Subaru, which was far less responsive. But this makes sense as there was a wave of cars/orders from them early on (spot the IRVINE SUBARU windshield sticker on Mike_CSG's car). I wouldn't expect an earlier delivery date from them compared to Riverside given when I ordered.

Gerald Subaru in Naperville Illinois... MSRP + $1399 for dealer junk (wheel locks, floor mats... and a shovel?!) and then 20% markup.

Guy tried to tell me that BRZs were being limited due to the first generation selling so poorly. He also said 20% markup was for orders and if the car was on the lot it would have a 30% markup.

Oh, and it was a $1k non refundable deposit to place an order. Good job.

Selling poorly because of greedy idiots like this dealership.

We went to Riverside first but no one was helping us and we waited for a bit wandering in the showroom. We both had a weird vibe that day from that dealership so we trekked to Temecula after which was a really good experience. Everyone was so helpful and it was an easy process. Oh well. I’m just being impatient at this point but dang, this is my 3rd ETA. 😞. Hoping this is the actual ETA and not a guesstimate.

I guess I’ll add that I got my VIN on 11/19, window sticker on 11/27 I think and port date as 11/29 and the car actually arrived on 11/30 when the original delivery date was 12/10.

Holding out hope I get mine this week. Mine still has not arrived. Going out of town Friday, and knowing my luck it will arrive Saturday.

It finally came.
Looks and drives great.
This is my 148th car (3rd Twin)

Got the call this morning, well yesterday morning, grabbed an uber and headed up north 2 hours. Everything went super smooth, no surprise markups, and they even beat my pre-approved financing by a couple points.

Timeline:

First order 9/24, ETA FEB.
Got my VON a week later and Subaru ETA was 3rd week of Dec

Fearing more delays and my trade value dropping or getting crashed into I went looking for unclaimed orders that already had vins. After dealing with several dealers in other states with markups disguised as add-ons I gave up.

The next week I checked the Cap1 auto navigator to see if the cars were showing up there to check rates etc, and found a WRB limited I hadn't seen yet at a dealer a couple hours north.

Called the dealer 10/27 and it was unclaimed and at MSRP, reserved it with no money down, ETA November.
After November hit the salesperson said it was still set for a Mid month delivery.
Middle of Nov hits and I was F5ing the subarusticker page and it populated 11/15, I email the salesperson for an ETA and get no reply.

I wait a week and contact the sales manager on 11/22, he confirms its cleared the port processing and ETA of 11/27 but he fears T-giving will delay it.
Sat, Monday and most of Tuesday goes by and I call the manager for an update and LVM.

12/1 He calls me in the morning to let me know the car came in the night before.
