If it's a small seepage and doesn't require frequent top ups or cause smoke under the hood then why worry? Not sure what the value of the car is but it sounds like your mechanic is preparing you to pay it back for that repair. If you can find some Subaru focused shops near you, the FA20 and the twins should not be shrouded in mystery to them. In fact iirc the timing chain cover uses sealant, not a gasket. Maybe he needs 2 days to figure out where to get the sealant and figure out how to work on this type of engine.
Speak to someone who actually has worked on Subaru timing chain covers in recent history.
This is when it's handy to show your actual town/city on your location info.

Edit- if you don't repair it, make a point of wiping that area if it builds up so you don't leave old drips where you park. Those blue oil paper towels are cheap and cheerful.

Like @Tcoat, my car is well over 310,000km and climbing. It even has the dreaded valve replacement recall done on it. That is the only time it's been in the shop for anything other than routine maintenance.

If it developed on oil leak (it doesn't, as far as I can tell it uses less than a half a quart between oil changes) I would get the leak fixed.

And like @Yoshoobaroo my dealer took less than 3 days to complete the valve recall on my car.

Use a really high grade oil, and change it before it gets black. Usually for how I drive that's about 3k miles. I drive spiritedly and I race this car on road courses which means sustained WOT at 7k+ rpms. I replaced the rear cam plates with the racesceng units, and they are holding up great. But don't forget trans, diff, brake fluid, pads, etc. Take care of her and she'll take care of you.
