Everyone develops a superiority complex.. it makes you feel better about your purchase. All Gen Coupe owners will want to feel like their car is better than the FRS.. Likewise.. FRS/BRZ owners will try to put down other cars to make us feel better about our car.

This to be expected..

If it makes anyone happier, here's a miata forum talking about the BRZ. Most people like it. The others are busy arguing which Miata is best

I normally wouldn't buy a Scion either, but seeing that are no Toyota 86s in the US then I'll just have to settle for an FR-S and do some JDM conversion. I like the options that the BRZ comes with, but I don't like how it comes standard with a Tom Selleck 80s pornstar style mustache on the front bumper

But if you seriously think the FRS is a death trap I can't imagine how boring it must be to drive a genesis coupe.

That's how I've always seen it.
I would hate to sit in anyone's car while they were hooning and suddenly lift off the throttle to have tires catch grip mid-slide. Either the car is gonna snap unpredictably or my neck from the weight transfer.

I almost need to photochop tom selleck's face onto the BRZ bumper now.

I love both the BRZ and FRS, even the GC impressed me when I first saw it. The newest version looks fugly, IMO but to each his own.

New guy checking in.

I used to own a '12 GenCoupe 2.0T R-Spec.

It was totaled a few weeks ago.

I just bought this....

So I find this thread highly amusing.

lol They should stop arguing. Miatas are known for a reason. I love miatas. I always have and always will. My first car is a red 1990 miata (go figure, how typical.. lol woman driving a red convertible). Although the newer gen miatas are overpriced for the amount of "car" you get (in canada.. not sure about anywhere else). And unfortunately convertibles aren't convenient in vancouver most of the time =( Really I think most people who want a more "practical" (as close to practical you can get) who love miatas would buy the FRS/BRZ. IMO. So I'm not surprised they like it.

The GC R-Spec:

It looks sexier.

Brakes were better.

Tires were better.

Wheels looked a hell of a lot better.

It had a real center console/armrest.

Radio didn't look like something out of Blaukpunkt's 1989 catalog.

You could use the rear seats as long as whoever is back there isn't over 5'10" or so.

FR-S:

Has a shifter that is light years ahead of the GC's

Handles better.

Is faster in a straight line.

Is a lot more fun to drive.

The gas pedal is not floor mounted like on the GC so heel-toe is much better.

Is a lot lighter and more "tossable".

Has better seats (front).

In short I think the GC is more of a GT where as the FR-S is a sports car.
