You really need to visit the Dyson forums because if you had done your research you would know Dysons don't have calipers; they just apply reverse thrust. Sure, doing that spews out everything that's just been sucked up but that's apparently part of the appeal of owning a Dyson, you get to clean up the mess you've just created.

The Dyson cult forums are weird.

There are actually people that are hoping and looking forward to an affordable Toyota take on an STI. Might not be your thing though.

Regards to M6 Supra, I don't think it takes a genius to understand if they planned for linear sales figures year after year for the Supra they will need to bring that out for MY 3 or 4 latest.

The GRMN Corolla makes sense for Europe, where Subaru discontinued the STI. Not sure how that could hold up for North America unless it is sold in very limited quantities, which is still possible.

As many of you know there is a relationship between Toyota and Subaru whereby neither would wish to parasitic the other's sales if at all possible. It's about growing combined market share, not shifting it.

This. I bet the market for hopped up econoboxes is far bigger. Pure sports cars just doesn’t fit the lifestyle of many people. You can still get most of the thrills in a hot hatch with a more practical application. There is a reason why there are so many hot hatches and so little sports cars.

Well at lot will depend on if it is a GR Corolla or an actual GRMN one. If it is indeed a GRMN then the definition of "affordable" would have to be pretty broad.
I still can not get excited about a family sedan with some aero and power increases no matter how hyped it gets.

Considering there are almost no hot hatches that are bespoke to their chassis, I'll take what I can get. It's either the GR Corolla or the new Golf R. And I hate the Golf R's nonsensical touch screen all the things.

I'm guessing a GRMN would delete some creature comforts. Considering I'd sell the FR-S in place of one, I'd rather have the lower GR trim level come here since it would be my DD.

For sure I wouldn't ever buy a GR Sport tho.

Says a former Lancer owner (was it a Ralliart or EVO?). If it was an EVO I'm sure you would see the excitement. I've never driven one but I've heard they're much more scalpel-like than an STI (not including the S209 which is 100% a scalpel).

A 2003 Rally, a 2008 GTS and a 2012 GT. I went with the Lancers since even at the higher trim levels they were econobox sedans which was exactly what I needed at that time. They were almost the total opposite cars to the 91 Eagle Talon TSi that they "replaced" but I knew that going into it. I never had any expectations or even desire that the Lancers serve as any form of performance vehicle.

The Evo was never an option here until the X came out in 2007. At almost twice the price of the 2wd versions it was never a good choice for me to use while racking up mega miles for work. I did however drive a couple and they were indeed really really fast econobox sedans! Pretty sure they would have beat me to death during my long commutes though.

A big part of my distaste in hopped up econobox sedans (and hatches for that matter) is the amount of money they want for them. I appreciate that the R&D and extras all cost money but they really seem to gouge the buyer. If I had been after a performance car priced vehicle back in my Lancer days it would have been a V6 Eclipse or a Z not a Evo or STI.

When you consider that I bought literally the very first FRS that I ever laid eyes on (much less even knew existed) since it checked off my "reasonably priced so I don't destroy an expensive a car with miles" box then you can see how it was such a good fit for my needs. A costly (and it will be costly if GRMN) Corolla just to have a fast sedan is a waste of money for many.

Econoboxes were at some point of time really cheap cars, but factories have to raise prices constantly. A previous Yaris 1.0lt model cost 11.650€, but the new Yaris 1.0lt basis model costs 16.150€. How to justify a 4.500€ price increase to the customer? Simple. You build a Yaris "homologated" model and you spend money on marketing and car journalists to raise model's awareness and popularity. Then people are more willing to pay the extra money even for the "upscale" base version. I suppose something similar will happen to Corolla.
