Still waiting on results from first morning cold start.

Rules out rod knock. In any case, extremely unhealthy to continue running it. Pull engine, remove valve covers to inspect there first. My $0.02.

it could be a bad cam gear. They are known to go bad and sound like a rod knock. Also, check for an ejected rocker. Sometimes this causes an oil leak because it will crack the valve cover.

Mine didn't lose oil pressure. The pivots were still in place when I pulled the valve cover.

Interesting. Did yours pop at low rpm? My pivots where mangled and the bores messed up when they got whacked by the cam lobe on the way out.

I think it was low speed after something got sucked into #3. First I was low on power. Pulled into paddock, checked things over, it began missing and clacking on restart. Left it at the track and when I went to get it, things went from bad to worse with broken timing chain. I had normal oil pressure the whole time. Was the hole in your valve cover big enough to dump out a bunch of oil in a short time?

No. I had a crack and very little oil actually came out.
