NA and 228 HP, what's not to like? And at almost the same curb weight.
"I heard FI doesn't go well with these vehicles" lol Great car out of the box. Plus, widely available FI for people looking for greater customization. This reminds me of people that complain they can't find a 56" waist at H & M.

Want more powah? Go for a Nissan Z. Or a Camaro or a Mustang or a Challenger or a Supra. Or a Honda Civic Type S.
Or, you can pop on a forum for this unique vehicle that is well balanced and poweful but also highly maneuverable. And whine. Please refer to the meme previously posted. The only flaw I see with this vehicle is the "turbo whine".

Dude, I understand your point regarding the car losing the breath in high altitudes, but from OEM perspective it you not make sense on this car. A mild FI would work the best in your case, and as the power that the car would be running is not that high (until the power itch gets you) I don’t see much issues on the mechanical side. Not sure how hard is the sw side (tuning), maybe someone can chime in.
Would go to a reputable system like JDL (turbo) or JR/Edelbrock/Harrop for supercharger. Solution is there. |

For really high altitude you need a turbo though. Turbos (should) target a certain load, superchargers just multiply the available ambient air pressure, so if you’re losing 25% power NA, you’re still going to lose 25% with a supercharger. |

Guys...
The OP is a broken record and waste of time. Funny he is looking to replace a Mazda 3 but even the increases in the Gen 2 are not enough. https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=146550

Agreed. Horsepower mattered way more for me before I had a 450hp car. Driving that daily for a few years made me realize that engine response and the shape of the powerband are much more important than the numbers. |

Oh and while I am ranting, this whole "they won't make it more powerful because they don't want to cut into Supra sales is simply one of the stupidest things put into print. They don't care which one they sell since a sale is a sale. If this was even remotely true they wouldn't make several trim levels of each car. Why build 6 trim levels of the Corolla? Won't the sales from the L cut into the XSE? Just make the top trim and make everybody buy that! Boy, Toyota is dumb.

I am the same. Let me know if this is what you saw, but I had Infiniti G37 with 328 HP. I had to get it over 3K RPM to see any power, so I would stall it or peel out. When I concentrated real hard I could get it to take off fast without spinning the tires but I would actually have to let off the gas a little once it hit 3K RPM to prevent a huge lunging forward. It was a sedan so it weighed over 3800 pounds. I remembered back when I drove a Jetta or a Civic and they had a way smoother powerband. It was under 200 HP but smooth. My Acura TSX was 205 HP, and its power was very linear. I miss that!

Similar experience. My 2007 BMW 335i was nice and linear at 300hp. A bunch of kids later and I was around 450 with the stock frame turbos, but there was more lag than stock, and torque fell off quickly after 5k. It was fast, but the power delivery was laggy and a bit unpredictable. Couple that with the suspension being prone to wheel hop army higher power and it wasn’t as great an experience as it sounds. Even if I fixed all of that I would still be looking in my mirrors every time I floor it. My current 2011 335i is mostly stock and it’s very enjoyable to drive. I did suspension, square tires, and exhaust. It doesn’t have the shock factor of my old modded one, but it’s a much better car to drive all the time, and it’s still a hoot around corners and on on/ramps. Also helps that it doesn’t need spark plugs every 15k and the rear tires last longer too. |

I would agree if it weren't for the fact that they would have to spend a bunch of money to make the car faster and turbo. That car would then compete directly with their own Supra. No one would spend more money on a car to create their own competition. It doesn't make sense. You create cars that compete with other companies in a specific segment. You generally don't want to rob Peter to pay Paul. |

Even at the same power which would also close the price gap there would still be a market for each. One would not rob the other to any appreciable level.
