When did order? It seems hard to know if orders are delayed because of shortages or because dealers exceeded their quotas

Order placed in the beginning of October. When I ordered they showed me an expected arrival of November. Last week it slipped to December. I went in there yesterday to ask about changing an option (to see if it was too late) and their system showed Jan 2022.

If that's mine, any of you have an idea how long it takes to get the VIN after the dealer gets the allotment for it?

Likely not the same car. I would just give it a few days and check in with them again.
