Well, that's true in general, but is no panacea when it comes to COVID. The person I personally know that spent the most time in the hospital with COVID is a late 30's male who falls well within the "fit range" and by anyone's definition is in shape. He spent almost 3 weeks in the hospital, including 12 days on a ventilator. He has been home for 2 weeks and is still having lung issues. Likely has "long COVID".

Being in shape is no guarantee.

Defintely helps, but you are right. The vaccine does seem to help a lot with reducing symptoms.

I still counsel people to get vaccinated and I am vaccinated myself (J&J).

I am just against the mandates is all.

The big thing that made me decide to get vaccinated was seeing a patient who was literally only 3 weeks older than me...had the same first name (shouldn't matter but seemed weird) and he was healthy other than controlled diabetes.

He was super sick and I am worried for him. He goes to a coworkers church and she says he is a super good dude.

There are just some people I have encountered at work and here on these forums that dehumanize people if they do not get vaxxed.

What is worse, is that they feel completely morally justified in doing so.

I am enjoying quoting you, because you can't change your initial message once I quote it.

You really are being a prick.

One last word out of me here. We had a federal election on Sept 20. The People's Party of Canada, who represent themselves as Libertarian, didn't win a single seat in parliament. Their leader, Maxime Bernier is associated with antivax rhetoric, latching onto any group for support including white supremacists, and taking a far right view of everything. He was booed at many of the ridings he visited. Much, much more than Trudeau who had gravel thrown at him when boarding his bus.
The libertarian is a political pariah in Canada.

love too compare being a genocided, targeted minority group to a group of people who are not in fact, not being rounded up, incarcerated or killed by the government, but instead are choosing to not get a shot.

In Australia and New Zealand they are indeed being rounded up and incarcerated, for just being outside.

They are arresting people in Canada for violating pandemic protocols (they were at church).

I get this stuff sucks...but it is indeed happening.

Maybe you knew about this and just don't care, or maybe you didn't know about this.

That’s one anecdotal account. That doesn’t represent the majority and the statistical data.

It’s just the same for the anecdotes of people dying from covid who are/where vaccinated. It still happens all the time. But obviously statistically you have much better odds of dealing with covid if you are vaccinated, same with being “fit/healthy”.

MFW people start basically implying this is turning into another Holocaust.

As someone whose relatives were actually victims of the Holocaust, reading that kind of shit take about this makes my blood boil.

But isn't that the intention in the first place? What good would it be to make such egregious comparisons would there not be a desperate need for attention.

I just don't wish for this type of craziness to reach individuals who attempt domestic terrorism. That gets BIG attention.

I dunno, they're not entirely wrong. One group seeking to progressively minimize/put down/silence another group.

Unfortunately, it has become an 'us vs. them' situation, and there are no winners in that.
