It does look like a car Porsche could make as a new entry level model (928/944?).

But also I dare to say that GR 86 and the new BRZ look better than most 718s, 992s and last gen Macans (whatever the gen number they are).

Yup. Several people on this forum and on other websites have commented on its similarity Porsche's design, from certain angles. Many of the shapes, specifically the headlights, and also the arches over the fenders, feel borrowed from Porsche.

I 100% agree you could pass it off as a 928/944 replacement.

Not to say it is 1:1 or that Toyota copied, but rather, the designers recognized good design and applied it to the shape well.
