Perhaps, but the '15+ WRX had an STI-branded short-throw shifter option that made a relatively? big difference. (I had a base model '17 WRX with this option)

It was a bit of a P.I.T.A. to install a short shifter on my '17 BRZ, but definitely not rocket science.
Needs a lot of patience though. The most difficult part was aligning everything at the joint between the shifter and the transmission rod, and putting the rubber boot on. I also broke off one of the plastic clips on the handbrake boot. |

Totally valid point of view, and the boot was tricky. I'd bet the dealer will be glad to add it to your build.
