The line you quoted, stating explicitly that those encouraging vaccination are setting up a {get vaxed or die) false dichotomy is a canard, a straw man, a stalking horse. Very few actually say that, but it makes a great target at which to aim a specious argument.

Does getting vaxxed benefit the vaccinated. Absolutely. Psrticularly if you are exposed to the virus. Is going unvaxxed tantamount to swallowing the barrel of a 9mm? No! And very few are saying that. What people on this board have been harping on for months is that vaccinations create a "public good."

These types just cannot get over the fact that the world does not revolve around them and, unlike them, many other people take a broader view. It seems that no matter how often someone says that, it never sinks in. I suspect that is not because they can't understand it, but because they willfully refuse to understand it - which is orders of magnitude worse.

You make my point perfectly. When confronted with an argument to "do the right thing" even though you may not benefit personally from it, you engage in willful misdirection and distortion. "Makin shit up" is not conducive to an honest exchange of ideas.

I no longer think people like that are ignorant. They are selfish and anti-social which imo is far, far worse. Ignorance can eventually be cured.

They probably don't wash their hands when they go to the restroom.

But more importantly they don't get vaccinated because, "What's in it for them?".

What if the last hangers onners get ultimatums from their HMOs? Obviously people on welfare or unemployed won't give a f#&k but what if you really have to pay in to the added cost of the unvaccinated claimants? Is it worth it? Is it worth getting track insurance?

considering that welfare and unemployment are both ran by the states, it's more likely they'll be the first to implement a 'get vaxxed, or lose your benefits' situation
