Adding to the irony, I'd scored a nice set of 2004 WRX STi BBS alloys with winter tires off NASOIC not 24 hours before I learned I may not need them for more than a year.

Maybe a few more folks can check w/Subaru advocacy to see if their projected deliveries have slipped on the system?

I pinged my dealership's sales rep to see if that tracked with his current understanding; he told me today he'd heard that all BRZ deliveries are now delayed until 2022 because of chip shortages...hopeful that's not the case, especially for those of you who got in particularly early orders.
Sounds like the dealer is feeding you a line. If my understanding is correct each dealer is giving an allocation per month that varies by volume. This dealer might have just sold their allocation through March and don’t want to tell you this so you won’t go buy elsewhere.

I ordered 9/18 locally to me and have a build sheet stating 1/22 delivery.

I have a theory that the default (if they haven't exceeded allocations for that dealership) is 4 months, but may get bumped to be sooner. It seems that everyone who ordered initially gets a build time that's 4 months out, but then some are getting updates that their cars will arrive sooner.

A few positive thoughts:
-The plant closed down for a week and a few days I believe, not several months
-BRZs are being delivered in Japan, so they're being built
-MT BRZs probably need fewer chips that the Automatic version with EyeSight, no idea if this impacts when those vehicles arrive

I bet once the first batch hits the US we'll know more about actually delivery timelines. I'm hoping we see some show up in late October, maybe sooner.

Also, before people start freaking out about the huge delay at the port of Los Angeles, SOA uses the port of Vancouver for cars in the US, all the way east to Ohio.

Anything east of there comes through Baltimore traditionally.

Also use Richmond, but yes, LA backup is not part of the problem at this point.

Called SOA, order placed first week of September, still showing November delivery (no change)

They have my correct email, just not getting updates through email. Oh well, guess I'm calling them every few weeks if I want to.

I don’t think they send out updates. The instructions say to contact your dealer.

Doubled my search radius today and I’m up to 9 dealerships. Best anyone will offer is MSRP, period.

Anyone getting close to invoice? I’m willing to travel, ha

I thought I saw a thread showing that invoice was barely any lower than MSRP. I saw some sales on pickups, but cross-shopping other sportscars like lightly used manual 370z, Lotus Elise... prices keep going up. If I wanted a BRZ quickly I think I'd just go with MSRP instead of waiting to find one for invoice. It might only be a difference of $1500 or something. (Don't trust that number... go find the thread.) Do car companies ever do mid-year price adjustments? If you hold out to find one at invoice, could you get yourself into a price correction anyway?

Invoice is whatever the dealership chooses to tell you it is. Good luck getting some official piece of paper showing invoice price that wasnt printed by the dealer.

Not sure what Toyota will do, but Subaru traditionally doesn't have a lot of room between MSRP and invoice. Some dealers could go below invoice, but I don't think that's happening in this market any time soon and especially not for a new model release.

When I purchased my first WRX in 2014 when the model was released, I called every dealer within a 200 mile radius, best I could do back then was $1000 off and when I got there it was a demo, found an untouched one for $750 off or something small along those lines.

Considering the current market, I don't mind paying MSRP, because I don't foresee these getting significantly discounted (enough for me to start all over again) any time soon.

Subaru of America might issue you a $500 Loyalty voucher if you call, ask nicely and have a VIN available from your current/previous Subaru.

Yea, the margin on this car is only a little more than $1-1500 if I recall correctly. I'm doubtful you will find anything at all under $500.
