I agree. But I’m not the OP and I didn’t start the thread with the literal line “If money is not an issue, what are good reasons to stick with 1st Gen over 2nd Gen”

That makes this an easy thread to answer. It shouldn’t be a 10-page monster.

There are a half-dozen or fewer reasons other than money. Anything else is asking the infinitely more complex question of whether it’s “worth” it. But that is a different thread, and not what the OP asked. People are just reading the title and not the actual question, and they sure as hell aren’t 10 pages deep. This thread is more than past its prime.

Entertaining thread. Savageese put out another video today (probably already posted). They seem to like the car, but if they want continued access, you have to be nice.

My 2020 has less than 10k, so sticking with it. What I did like that was noted in the video is the new engine is the exact same except for a larger bore for 2.4l…all I want is the Gen 2 drive train. My Edelbrock already makes the car fantastic and gives me all the feelings described in the video (low end toque, etc). If my twin ever needs a heart transplant, I’m looking at the new engine over a built block, if possible.

I'm sticking with mine cause i already spent too much money modding it. It's a personal item now.

2nd gen look sweet, you can jump on it, but i would still wait 2 years for them to work out kinks especially if you plan to turbo the car.

Bull...I may have one of each in my driveway in the next couple of years. 1 track and 1 street.

These aren't Porsche's.

Ugm, no.

I can pay cash for a 2nd Gen, but would not, could not because I think it's ugly. I shall keep my 86 until I decide it's time to move on to something else, or it decides for me.

Overall, I agree the new one sounds as if it is an improvement mechanically, but not enough to overcome the new boy-racer design.

At the prices the 1st gens are going, is more likely that people might have to opt for the cheaper 2nd gen because the first gen is more expensive. So technically, if this keeps going, I could trade my 1st without having to pay a cent for the second gen.

I'm in the same boat. I have an edelbrock supercharger and a lot of other goodies on my car so going to gen 2 would be a big step down. If my engine did blow tho I would consider a gen 2 motor if I can swap over my supercharger.

yeah...no

For me personally i didnt want to wait for the second gen (since what...its not gonna be here until the end of the year it seems) and found the first gen perfectly fine.

Imo, if money isn't a factor then it comes down to cosmetics and interior. With money not being a factor you could build a 1st Gen chassis to be just as good as the 2nd Gen. Yeah it'd take a lot of work but it can be done.

The money not being an issue statement is too broad since one could use that to make the case that they should just be shopping for expensive super cars instead.

So, the statement would be the following: “Just people that do not have enough money will update to the gen2”

I like that.
