Years ago a meeting was coordinated with me on the premise of them needing a website. I show up and it was a group meeting/recruiting event for a pyramid scheme. And it was an hour in before that actually started so I thought it was just something else at the same time and unfortunate timing and the boss dude was just delayed...
Then it was hard to just walk out... My (now wife, then GF) ultimately showed up freaked out and rescued me. Cell phone didn't work in the building, etc. Not sure I even had sms available.
It has left me with a long-lasting distrust that applies to far more than I expected at the time... Like organized religion or any kind of paid company rep...
