Catback vs Axleback for sound
Hey, so I'm looking for an aftermarket exhaust that's not too loud and has little to no drone. Right now I have the stock exhaust, but also have an Edelbrock sc and pushing 275 whp on stock internals/clutch, so I don't really want any significant increase in power for reliability reasons.
From looking through other threads, I'm considering the CSG MXP Touring catback exhaust. Decibel wise that seems to be close to what I'm looking for. Any other recommendations? Since I'm just looking to modify the sound, should I just go with an axleback? Seems most axlebacks are pretty loud. Are there any that can compare to the CSG MXP Touring in regards to sound? |

Borla touring axleback. Nice sound and good price. Be careful, there's a S type that is louder.

What is the rest of the exhaust? All stock? If so an axleback should be fine.

I was looking at replacing my Q300 because it got louder with my catless header and stock FP. Most recommendations were the CSG touring and a fujitsubo axle back. I am have been listening to sounds on you tube but have not chosen yet. For now I am sticking with my loud Q300. Hate to spend 800 or so and it’s just as loud.

Getting a better (but not obnoxious) sound out of my 86 is probably the next item on my list. The Borla Touring axleback looks like a really good option for what I'm looking for!

I really like my nameless ultra quiet track pipe. It is not that loud even with catless header and high flow cat in the front pipe.

Nameless claims it passes SCCA 93db sound test with their header and resonated and catted 3” FP. I believe it. It is maybe a little louder then when my car was stock with just a Perrin 3” catback. Unfortunately only sound clips I have are in car track video, you mostly just hear wind noise.

Not factoring in price, would you go with the CSG MXP Touring catback or the Nameless 5 inch axleback? Assume everything else is stock and the goal is to get a quiet exhaust with little to no drone for a daily driver.
