Not everything was ready to be announced in that press release in July, such as fuel efficiency, which I believe they still haven't made official. Half the color options still haven't even been revealed in official photos.

You can look up reviews for the GR86, many of them have mentioned the base model having 6 speakers and the upgraded trim level having 8. Not saying the Subaru will be identical to the Toyota but surely that would lend some credence that at the very least the car has the capacity to be upgraded with two more speakers from the factory. I don't know what else to say but to repeat, ask your dealer.
Its been reported for months that toyota's variant would get upgraded audio, not the case for Subaru. That document is still on Subaru website, and hasn't been corrected (if that was the error). Regardless of what you or anybody else say (short of subaru directly), I won't be convinced until they drop it at dealers, and we'll see some reviews shortly after.

The higher trims from both companies will offer 8 speakers instead of 6.

There will be an optional additional cost subwoofer that is removable so you can still carry four wheels and tires for track days

There is no subwoofer option on the accessories document from Subaru. Where are you seeing this? Or perhaps Toyota only?

It’s early. My guess is they will work with kicker again to update the subwoofer for the ZC6:

with:
• Upgraded Audio
• Ultrasuede® and Leather Trimmed Front Seats
• Heated Seats and Heated Side Mirrors.
For the first time, BRZ Limited offers:
• 18 Inch Alloy Wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 Tires for
even better handling and driving dynamics.
• SUBARU STARLINK® Safety and Security
• Steering-Responsive Headlights
• Blind Spot Detection
Not a fan of ultrasuede (especially on door panels) and I want the base 17” wheels for a snow tire set, so it’s a bit of a bummer for me that they’re not going to offer the Blind Spot stuff separately.

The SavageGeese video of the GR86 drive day showed the subwoofer in the trunk.

I didn’t see it, just the shot with their equipment in the trunk. Do you have a time stamp?

Couldn't find it when I just scanned through. It could have been in one of the other videos. It was sloped shaped and moulded so it fit into the rear left corner of the trunk. I think I remember them saying it's a subwoofer with built in amp.

Sounds like the kicker sub for the 1st Gen:

I wouldn't plan on this being available for BRZ, at least for the first model year. How easily one could connect the Toyota version will remain to be seen.
