JDM STI Springs with normal 2017 damper.
Hi guys,
I'm looking for review or opinion about STI Springs pair with normal 2017 damper for my 2015 brz. I found some information in this forum say that JDM STI spring rate is about 3.6K front / 4.3K rear. I just love the way 2017 handling but I just want more performance and I hate understeer. I know RCE yellow has positive opinions but for shipping cost to where I live will cost me 1 more set of it. Thanks |

I had the STi pink springs on the PP dampers, not the best pairing.
The best pairing is with facelift Showa, even better than old generation ones. Go for them. |

Can you get Eibach or TRD Springs? In the USA TRD is made by Eibach and there pro springs are decent as well. Swfit springs are good too. the 2017 normal dampers are the softest of all the dampers. Pair it with a mild drop and get yourself some camber bolts and a real alignment will really transform the car's handling. Honestly if you buying the 17 dampers just get yourself some Bilstein B8's and your spring of choice.

RCE yellows would be better suited to 200TW tires compared to the eibach pro. Yellows have 4.5k front/rear rates compared to 3.6f/4.9R on eibachs. Stiffer front rate with a 0.8" drop should help with bump stop issue.
RCE carried the tarmac springs with 5K F/R for a while but looks like they're unavailable for an unknown length of time. If a used set ever popped up that sounds most ideal for 200tw. A set of near new 2017 dampers will serve you well, especially for $170 bucks! I transitioned from yellows on stock 2017 dampers to B6 on yellows. I logged 20k on that setup over about 11 months with 1 hour on track at calabogie, and a winter. Stock dampers degraded noticeably within that 20k. By the end ride quality had gone down, and handling was less precise. Manhole covers felt jaring to run over. I've put 9000km on this setup since install. I run with -2° front camber via camber/crash bolt combo. takeaway to me is that the B6 valving feels better suited to stiffer springs like yellows. Bumps feel more controled, though it is still rides firm. There is no jarring feel, which I didn't feel with reasonable condition stock dampers either. In the twisties, roundabouts, onramps the car feels predictable, stable, precise, and playful. Love this setup overall. I have been shotgun and drove a couple of coilover cars and they ride too racecar for me. This strikes a nice balance. I run with 225/45r17 Toyo advan V105s that are near new but a few year stock. Looks like this is what I am looking for. Hopefully sometime soon. PS: What mud flaps are fitted to your car? I am running 225/45/17 on 9" wheels and the slight poke is throwing too much dirt on the fender sides and door. And spoiling the paint. Need to find a decent set of mud flaps. |

Yes, regular 2017 Showa dampers. The PP Sachs are very bad with lowered springs.
