Its a new red, a tri colour with two different red paint layers. Subaru actually have a rather large display with all the other car changes that describe what the have done - I wish that was translated better!

Its the most expensive colour option now I think. A far cry from the free base paint.

To me it shows quite a pink and orange hue of red, which seems to change depending on the light.

Whatever the case, it looks pretty amazing to me.

It’s safe to say EVERYONE is going to be looking at eachother driving white or red 86’s. Lmao. Don’t you guys want to mix it up a little bit? Highly considering Trueno blue.

I've seen paint codes for the GR86 but I haven't seen them for the BRZ. Do we know which colors are the same and which are different? I'm pretty sure the BRZ "Sapphire blue pearl" and GR86 "trueno blue" are the same.

I think they are the same and yeah I haven’t seen the BRZ paint codes either, unless I skipped over someone mentioning it in earlier threads

I think the only different colours are the exclusive ones.
Like World Rally Blue for Subaru, and Neptune blue for Toyota.

The rest are just named differently with Subaru having the more generic nomenclature and Toyota going with a more funky naming scheme.

Zero votes for my second choice? Black is an awesome color for any car.

Haven't seen bRed in person, but the way it seems to shift color and people describe it, reminds me a bit of VW Tornado Red. In direct sunlight it had a strong orange glow, in darker light it was like a cherry red, and in overcast and at sundown it had a pink tinge.

Really, really, really loved that color. However, it was a major pain in the ass to keep clean. I would wash and wax it, then drive it once, and you could almost immediatly see the most subtle layer of dust and road grim along the lower edge of the car and the hood and roof. It completely changed the look of the paint. I washed that car every weekend. Probably why I'll avoid bRed.

But if you have a garage and love washing your car, go for it. It is probably right up there with black for beautifully difficult paints.

At this point I’m considering black just because it’ll be oddly different.

If they had that orange from Tom, I would move from Brz to Gr86 easily.

First thing I'm going to do is paint correction, ceramic coat and PPF. Yeah, its expensive but it was one of the best things I did to my S2k that kept it looking that good for so long... with minimal maintenance by me.

I really like that dark grey metallic, one of the better ones.

I think it adds a fair bit of class to the car that overrides a bit of the boy racer aspect.

Only problem is I have not seen it in premium with the blackened rims and the big duckbill

In the end, most people won’t actually buy red. Most of the 86s out there will be white, grey, black, or silver, just like every other car on the road unfortunately.

Well, some of that is caused by what the manufacturers build. It's a catch-22. Since something close to 99% of all mass market cars are purchased directly off the lot, most people take what they can get rather than what they would want if selecting from a menu.

Supernova red orange (not over sprayed) and Hakone green should be making their comebacks.

After whiteout and halo, I for sure am due for something with a fun colour.
Trueno looks awesome!
