Doubt it. Maybe they would have sold faster if this had been a mid-cycle refresh rather than having sales slowly decline but in the end T/S sold every one they intended to build/sale. It's not like there is a parking lot full of unsold units somewhere.

This. Tcoat has said this for years. They sold all the cars they intended to make.

They sold over 120k in the us alone. That’s almost the same amount of cars that Porsche sold between the 911 and the Cayman/Boxster in the same period.

US , then Japan and then Australia were their super successful markets. Followed by the UK to a fair extent. That's about it. It did not sell much in Europe or Asia.

But, that's primarily because they didn't intend to sell them in those areas. It was pretty limited distribution.

Not quite sure that is true. Europe is a crazy sports car and a hot hatch market and Toyota has good presence. They did not get traction and always had stock.

"Smart Stop Technology" activates when both the gas and brake are pressed at the same time, and seems to affect the throttle. Notionally it's a safety feature (that the Prius idiots that cannot tell gas from brake...), though it sounds like certain low grip driving conditions have triggered that feature on gen1.

This is called BOA (brake over acceleration) and is set to prevent accidents in case of stuck (or defective) accel pedal. Lesson learned from Toyota case.

I know, but there are times when one may want both the brakes and the accelerator to function simultaneously.

Yes. The engineer would need to set some filters (or scenarios) to cover for that. e.g.: on manual, if you’re pressing clutch and brake, then you accelerate, it’s an Ok scenario to let the accelerator work.

^ Reviewers.... he spends most of his time on track praising the car's various improvements over the prior generation, then right at the end he says he prefers the feel of the old one, it sounded better and was more involving.

Also said the gen 1 feels more raw. That's my biggest worry with the gen 2, and what almost every new generation of sports car does - becoming less raw, more insulated and plush.
A lot of changes that were done to the gen 2 point to Subaru/Toyota listening to the community and offering OEM what was previously done aftermarket, so I still have high hopes.

Everyone is talking about track feel. Most of these cars will be daily drivers or weekend fun cars. I am interested to find how how they are as a daily and can't yet find a proper road review.

Most of the reviewers didn't have enough time with the car to form a real opinion about the car. Not to mention, the reviews are going to be biased since Toyota paid for the whole event. Wait until the car is actually in production.
