I like that the back seats are very small. Even if they were a little bigger nobody would want to be climbing in and out of there regularly. I just used them for extra storage. That’s a big plus over the Miata also.

4 asians can fit in it no problem

I can fit behind myself, with the drivers seat in an adequate position (my legs would be a bit more bent than i'd preferred but not unbearably so)

and i have used a rear facing child seat in the back passenger seat with just enough space for my wife in the front passenger seat (the seatback ends up being a little too upright to be comfortable for long distances...not helped by the headrest being angled forward).

My boy might prefer the 86 rear because he can see out the back window (well, staring up in the sky though) as opposed to the X1 where he'd be staring at the seatback, roof and the mirror on the headrest lol.

I've owned the 86, 50:50 FR and rear biased MR cars. They are all good for different situations. But for the low power level of the 86, I've never felt I needed more rear weight bias.

Very difficult (prob. impossible) to ascribe handling feel based on weight distribution between different cars, as the sum effects of other differences will give significantly greater differences in feel.

The front bias of the 86 provides a lot of predictability. It's very forgiving, allowing you to really overdrive the car and still be able to catch it in situations where you will have no chance in a rear biased car.

987.2 (2.9 liter) I owned and drove back to back vs. BRZ all of 2019 was as predictable and every bit as tossable at the track as the BRZ. And a lot faster of course... Not as much fun to drive on the street though, but that was due to steering slowness and nonlinearity than weight distribution...

On the BRZ, I'd trade some "predictability" for more front grip mid-corner anyway...

The twins are designed to be 'fun' cars rather than 'performance number' cars. There are many cars that will beat it if you are just looking at objective performance. But not many cars can beat it for feel and fun.

Troof! Still, I would prefer it to be a shorter-wheelbase 50/50 car, but it is an excellent compromise as a 55/45 2+2, and if I had to buy a new car tomorrow it would be another FT86 as it is.
