So our local school districts have decided to essentially break the state executive order by enforcing masks at schools and universities. Our governor banned the usage of masks but the county is making it mandatory anyway. In doin so he has claimed he will be taking any school or district that mandates them to court. Which I find interesting as the mask requirements are for the safety of the children and faculty. So I see nothing wrong with it.

In the interest of accuracy, no he didn't. He banned the MANDATING of masks. Anyone who wishes to wear one or have their children wear one is not only allowed to do so, but encouraged to do so.

Recent data points show Ph.D.'s are the most vaxx hesitant group. The study, funded by Facebook and the CDC of over 5 million respondents, says there are many reasons across the board for the hesitancy, not primarily anti-vaxx.

"The largest decrease in hesitancy between January and May by education group was in those with a high school education or less. Hesitancy held constant in the most educated group (those with a Ph.D.); by May Ph.D.’s were the most hesitant group."

https://www.upmc.com/media/news/0726...cine-hesitancy

Curious what those Ph.D.'s were in.

My apologies for inaccuracy. But you get the point. Also don't use that attitude with me again.

Possibly true for higher ed, if you're living in a 1st world nation and have the resources to attend an on campus setting.

It's most of the rest of the world who are trying to lift themselves out of grinding poverty who stand to benefit the most from remote instruction.

In person for K-12 in the US isn't working well by almost any measure compared to the rest of the developed world. It may get worse from the pandemic but it'll be interesting to look for any changes in reading, writing, or mathematics proficiency test scores.

Except in my state where the in person learning proficiency scores are so low, especially compared to charter or home schooling using remote instruction, that the governor signed an executive order last month that eliminates any proficiency testing for reading, writing, or mathematics in order to artificially inflate in person high school graduation rates.

Not here in OR considering they suspended those requirements to graduate HS for the next 5 years

I corrected a factually incorrect statement, without any personal judgements, attacks, or characterizations, implied or otherwise, and received a threat in return. There is a HUGE difference between banning mandates and banning masks. Letting that slide would have been irresponsible. No attitude at all... just a desire for honest accurate respectful discussion.

Yep, Oregonian here.

That will give teachers more time to enforce the governor's other executive order mandating CRT in all public school grade levels.

I have a lady friend who tested positive today with so far mild symptoms. She was not immunized for whatever reason. She's in her 40s and extremely healthy otherwise with no comorbidities. Spent some time with a general practitioner friend of mine tonight who is obviously pro vax. He gave me a dire description of what is going on in the area hospitals with covid. Many patients who were previously immunized. His message is to get the shots but if you're older with any complications, take extra precautions as well.
