Considering nearly all SFF cases wouldn't allow you to see the board anyway....

Am I irrational in wishing for better performing main boards that don't include such frivolous options as flashing lights and over decorated heatsinks?

Am I irrational thinking that people who buy graphic cards just to scalp them deserve a special place in hell.

Or any high demand item for that matter.

Only if you include the people that pay the scalped prices in an adjacent hell. One doesn't happen without the other.

Played Grand Theft Auto V for about 3 hours over the weekend. I have to say, I don't get the hype that surrounds these games. The driving mechanics suck, and they are most of the game.

I never have quite understood the whole "all or nothing" constant acceleration in these open world games. The designers do actually drive cars right?

It's just not that complicated. Something like forward speed increasing as long as I hold the stick or the 'forward key'. If I let off, the acceleration should stop, but it should maintain speed. If I brake, etc, it should slow down. That would be way more playable.

Your character driving skill will increase the more you drive, at the beginning it does suck, and overall driving in GTA V is so wacky, but it does slightly better the more time you spend on a vehicle.

I do agree with that statement. Part of the problem of prices increasing is both scalpers and people paying absurd amounts of money to have the latest and greatest GPUs or any item in particular. I really want to upgrade mine, but I would never overpay for anything, no matter how much I need it or want it. The moment people pull their head out of the place where the sun don't shine, scalpers will have no other choice but to sell their items at the price is supposed to be.

GTA5 was kind of mind blowing in 2013, especially on 360/PS3. I haven’t played it since then, but by today’s standards it’s probably a pretty mediocre open world action/shooting/driving game. I see that for rockstar the attraction of more money is there, but I don’t believe you can keep a game relevant for 10 years like they are trying. Just because it’s making money doesn’t mean it’s offering a good experience.

It’s turning into the Skyrim meme, but at least Bethesda got all the 8th gen console releases over with within 6 years of the original release, and they’re not trying to milk it by making it an MMO.

Then again Zenimax has ESO for that.

Speaking of GPUs. AMD seems to have implemented a new way to purchase their cards. They now have a "Sale Event" on Thursdays around 9:30 AM EST. You would enter their "Buy Direct" you are required to pass a captcha, and then wait until their counter reaches zero. Once this happens, you are "Randomly Assigned" a place on the line. If you are lucky to be placed higher in the line, you might get one.

Best Buy seems to have reserved their FE NVIDIA GPUs for Store Only. So gotta keep an eye on their forums for restock notices. All other manufacturer cards such as ASUS, GIGABYTE, MSI, are still being sold online only and their restocks are a little random, usually after 1130 AM EST on Thursdays and Fridays. Very rarely on Tuesdays.

Well, I got it for free from Epic a couple of months back so I guess I'm getting what I paid for. I usually enjoy these types of Open world games, but in most of them you can avoid driving, or its not an integral part of the game. Obviously, that's not the case with GTA. I imagine I'll continue to eat away at it a bit at a time. It's hard for me not to complete most of a game once I start it.
