Something to keep in mind, if you are using OFT for tuning a UEL will be better optimized to the preloaded tunes. If you go with an EL 4-2-1 option like the JDL or ACE the cam timing will be out. Drivability and power across the rev range won't be as good as they could be. If you want a tune properly set up for the 4-2-1 style headers you will need to go to a tuner like CSG, Delicious or HRi tuning. HRi may do an OFT tune for those headers but you'd need to check. Delicious and CSG are Ecutek only.

Ok so you have a 2020 so you already have a 2017+ catted stock header. I would not replace it if you want to stay catted. You will see almost 0 gain and possibly get a negative gain. What you want is a good tune for your engine. If you want a good gain from the header you will need to go cat-less.

The number one thing I want is a reduction (or preferably elimination) of the torque dip. Added power is the bonus, especially since I'm at 5000 ft plus which means I'm already dealing with about a 15% loss in power versus sea level.

Keep the factory front pipe. Tune. Deal with any emissions ramifications whenever you need to. Don't bother spending any money on the front pipe. |

So does catted vs non-catted matter much in what I'm looking for?

for your budget, it's about a $400+ dollar difference. for tailpipe, neither of them matter if you keep the stock front pipe. your cold starts might smell a bit more but once it's warmed up then it will mostly be the same. |

Tune and E85 will fix that better than a Different header. If you have access to E85. Spend the extra on flex-fuel kit so there is no re-flashing needed if you can not get E85.

So thicker hangers insulates more vibration from the rest of the car compared to flimsier ones?? I guess I always assumed "drone" was some resonant sound frequencies, but if this is true then it's also some vibration. |

I installed the STI/JDM exhaust hangers on my car with a Yonaka catback. I had not had real problems with droning but the exhaust did rattle and make a racket on start up. The new hangers did quiet the rattling and changed the exhaust sound in the cabin as well. At all road/engine speeds the exhaust sound is more controlled. My car used to drone a wee bit at 2500-3000 rpm (below my highway cruising speed). No more. It's smooth and quiet on maintenance throttle all the time and only becomes audible when you tip in to the throttle.

Correct, you can’t do anything about exterior sound by changing hangers but cabin vibrations can be reduced, which in result can be more pleasant when driving city/highway. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sound=vibration, they’re one and the same. Drone is the exhaust pipe literally vibrating like a hitting a ruler cantilevered over a desk. The pipe resonates and you perceive it as sound in the cabin. If the sound is close enough to the resonant frequency of the body, that will vibrate too. Insulating the exhaust from the body with more compliant hangers helps. Stiffer (thicker) hangers will make it worse. |

Well technically the JDM Subaru hangers are a thicker version of the US market ones. They greatly reduced cabin resonation for me after installing a louder exhaust. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
