For me the only problem is the sort of vague feeling of when the clutch grabs high up in the pedal travel. I’m sure an aftermarket clutch would feel much more positive. I never thought the clutch pedal feels too light though. Especially because it’s a low power car. I will be very happy if the 2nd gen clutch has a little more bite to it. Granted I bought my FR-S used, so I’m not sure how badly the clutch was treated before me. I only drove an 86 brand new once on a test drive, and I wasn’t driving aggressively.

The channel itself has a number of other videos released at the same time for the BRZ. This includes the safety/crash testing, further interviews with the people involved with its development, modelling showing the working parts in action etc.

I have to say Subaru know how to market this, and provide an outlet for nerds seeking every bit of information on what really went on in their heads/considerations/challenges when making the BRZ. Can't help but feel the infection of their enthusiasm, but at the same time some sadness knowing they believe (and I agree) this is the best and last of it's kind for ICE sports cars.

All specifications are now up on the jap website, including pricing breakdown and accessories.

I really wish these videos had subtitles in English, I love the nerdy stuff...gathering around diagrams, examining engine components, etc. Excited for this car, very curious to see how Sapphire Blue looks in person and how it compares to Galaxy Blue...I rarely buy first-year cars but GBS pushed me over the edge

Awesome! I was watching them about 45 minutes after they were uploaded last night on the Xbox One and was having issues with subtitles, combined with being half-asleep lol I'll watch all of them over again

Looks like the STI page is live as well. The new chassis designation is ZD.

https://www.sti.jp/parts/subarubrz_zd/

The start button appears to be the same. The flexible v-bars have a different part number, but I wonder how similar they are to the old model.

So the wheels are 17x7.5 et48. So I guess stock offset is same as 2012 2016 twins ie ZC. And definately 5x100 if there even is any doubt left. https://www.sti.jp/parts/subarubrz_z.../ST28100MF050/

But curious why this says the rotors are not compatible with ZC. https://www.sti.jp/parts/subarubrz_z.../ST26300ST000/
Ie "following is a note for SUBARU BRZ (ZC) type customers (SUBARU BRZ (ZD) type is not applicable)"

Unfortunately with anything technical YouTube's translations are a very sad joke. Subaru needs to step up and provide its own subtitles. For a negligible cost, it would have a great marketing tool for the huge English language market.

I completely agree, although it does make for some genuinely funny translations at some points.

No joke! A previous company I worked at, we had a manual translated (I was the Tech Writer for a winch company). You have to keep the winch cables lubricated, apparently whomever translated it in the translation company screwed it up.

We didn't find out until the customer received the manual that it had been translated as "personal lubricant" for the winch cable. They were obviously quite confused why we would recommend that.

Translations are never word for word or phrase for phrase, especially japanese to english.

Its why it takes forever to translate stuff, because they have to reword the phrase sometimes to make sense without losing the meaning. I think the youtube and other algorithsms more or less do a 1:1 translation, and that results in the sometimes hilarious translations.
