Last I checked, this is indeed an automotive engine....not saying it doesn't have some relevant points...just sayin

However it does mention automotive engines since they also built them and an engine is an engine and capable of powering many different things.

Someone mentioned 2T as not being suitable for a car because it's used in engines that power other machinery but the fact that the 86 is a car is largely irrelevant while we are discussing problems caused by ethanol in an engine.

If anyone can find a better article I would be very appreciative. That was the only one I found worth mentioning.

Why have many pumps already been replaced in attempts to shut the chirping up if it's normal?
Why does a tiny amount of fuel lubricant stop the noise instantly?

The study in the link is for non-automotive engines, i.e., a 15-hp marine engine and a line trimmer engine. Does it say in the study if these were 2-stroke or 4-stroke engines?

The point being raised was that E20 was found to have lubrication deficiency. Who cares what engines were used and what they were fitted to, it was the fuel being tested to see how it compared with ethanol free?

If you or anyone else can come up with something better please do, I for one would be interested to read it.
I've also done a bit of research on direct injection HPFP noise and can only find the operating solenoids tapping as being a problem. No mention of any other noise such as chirping. That suggests again, that the fault is with this pump and it needs to be modified.

I don't mean to come across as having the shits but it does read that way when I look back. So sorry if I've seemed a bit short and I genuinely welcome any constructive comments.

Bad, is that code for the HPFP? Or for the fuel pump in the fuel tank?

ok i know we are all going a little too crazy with the chirp and honestly it doesnt really bother me...my tc did the same and so did my integra, but today i needed to get gas and decided to go sunoco gas station instead of shell to see if there was a difference.(sunoco was also 0.15 cheaper than shell lol) Took my car for a little 50 mile road trip and notice my car felt a bit smoother than usual(also cud be because i just hit the 600mile mark and the car is getting closer to break in mark).. ne ways i had chirps only when my car wud sit at idle and today after my road trip the chirps went away. sunoco has 10% ethanol...i dunno how ppl feel about sunoco but so far its looking good..just wanted to give me 2cents

I don't recall my Integra chirping at an idle.

I've tried Sunoco, Shell, and Mobil with the same results. It's possible that your tank still had a little gas left in it from Japan. Give it a few more miles and make sure it gets nice and warmed up (15+ miles or so) and then see if it still happens.

i had an 01 integra ls and that thing ticked like crazy lasted me 120miles before i sold her(i still miss her). doubt it has anygas left...this is my 2nd fill up...first fill up was with shell 93. it is a bit cooler today but i drove for 50 miles and when i parked the chirp was gone. later on ill rev her up a little and see if it still happens.

I had an 97 myself, and I don't recall a chirp. Just a normal idle.

I started hearing mine around 650 miles, after driving to a friends house when it was like 100 degrees out.
