I suspect that will increase the body count among the unvaxed and serve as 1) an object lesson on the costs of pig headedness and 2) provide an incentive for the unvaxed to seek out vaccination.

The unwanted vaccine would be better used if sent to other countries who 1) are in a crisis situation and 2) have populations that want the vaccine. The US is, I think, something of a macrocosim of this board, and as we've seen here, you're wasting your breath trying to shame or persuade these people into doing the right thing.

Works for me, to a point. JD001's point is equally or more forceful. As a species, we may just be fucked. The organized efforts on the part of some in the US to spread bullshit about the vaccines and the conspiracy theories they spread about them are borderline criminal. I read that some crazed doctor in Cleveland is promoting the idea that the vaccines leave recipients "magnetized" and cause them to "interface" with 5G cell towers. Reminds me if the comment a colleague was fond of, "What do they call the person who graduates last in their class from med school? Doctor." I guess we can add "delusional, schizophrenic" as adjectives describing our "person."

When you have a significant portion of the population that is, for whatever reason, vulnerable or receptive to this nonsense and so many people either delusional or vile enough to spread it, it sometimes makes me wonder about the our commitment to free expression. I haven't read much about the vaccine resistance in Europe, but am pretty sure they have their own crazies. So, it's not just us. It's our species.

We do have crazies here in Europe, they come wrapped up in posh clothes and speak!! They then get similar crazies supporting them so that they get to run countries!!!

Their ability to create language that weaves complicated and wonderful words together that normal folk don't understand helps to camouflage racism, bigotry and other shameful stuff.. oh and the lack of guns keeps the normal folk from having a voice!!

I think I need to explore the above further, there's a good book hiding in there somewhere!!!

We will be re-opening our border for non-essential travel with the US soon, for those showing proof of vaccinations. I am happy the freedom for vaccinated people is improved.

I *hope* we get to so called herd immunity. The vax deniers get a free ride and the job is done. Don't expect any thank yous either when it's done from those whose bodily perfection cannot tolerate any prick greater than themselves, and therefore are they dangerous. I just mixed in a Shakespearean quote from Julius Caesar in that last sentence. Caesar's soliloquy regards to his distrust of Brutus. I, or should I say we, should distrust vax deniers. They are being pushed out of certain jobs here as well as attending some in-person higher education, being forced to enroll online only. Deservedly so.
