Can we add what those kids call TikTok? It's one of those silly social media things they've been playing for a whole day, dancing around like fools.

Social media platforms can have a good use if used in a smart way. For example, if it wasn't because of social media I wouldn't be able to get notifications about local car meets. Or events from my close friends. I don't use social media as a source of information for world events. I would just visit Axios, BBC, or USAToday if I want to be informed about the news.

If I want to watch tutorial videos for car repairs or anything involving skills that I couldn't realistically develop by myself out of thin air, I use YouTube.

If I want to show the world my sexy car, I have my car's Instagram page that I also use to support other people's builds.

I just take a skeptical approach when it comes to joining groups that focus on political views or anything of the sort that I feel would not better my quality of life. People could do the same as I do, but most people desire to have a sense of belonging, and that's when misleading articles and information make their way up other people's feeds.

I guess I just have my priorities set straight in a way. Would I be okay without Facebook? Absolutely, but I can decide to ignore things that I feel won't do me any good.

If what someone else's posts bothers you, as hard as it can seem, just let it go, can't un-convince someone who is already convinced. Perception is reality.

If you feel like a platform is stupid, useless, or a waste of time, remember that you willingly have to download it, use it, watch it.

Like TikTok, I don't find it interesting, so I just don't download it. Simple as that. If people want to be dancing and doing whatever, at least they're not doing drugs or getting pregnant at 15 with no idea of how the world works.

Yes. Social media is as much as you want it to be. You can use them as a communication tool, and educational source, a belief platform, a stalking resource, or just for entertainment. Nobody is dictating how you use it so it is up to you.
Many people like to slam others because they use them in a way they wouldn't but I am not sure why it seems to be such a pretentious and high and mighty thing to say "oh I never use it it is for losers". Good for those that don't want to but why do you feel so superior because you don't? Who cares what others use it for.
Tik Tok is a great example. All you ever hear is "Oh it is a bunch of kids dancing or doing stupid things" There are hundreds of thousands of videos there that have nothing to do with dancing or doing stupid things but the critics only focus on what they don't like. Most probably have never even been there and ironically form their opinions from other social media sources LIKE THIS FORUM. Now, before everybody starts screaming that this is a forum and not a social media site I hate to break it to you it is really just Facebook in an older format.

Yep. Like I said it is just and older form. Some forums are pretty restrictive and pretty much just a place for questions and answers. They tend to have little traffic and are often very dry though. Ones like this with a much greater social focus are usually far more active and diversified.
