They will if you protect it. The first thing I'll be doing is taking it straight to my detail for a paint correction, clear wrap the entire car, and ceramic coat that.

Especially the black line connecting the taillights.
Because of that, black or gray are my only choices.

My baby gets garaged and I always hand wash so I'm not concerned so much about the how the paint surface holds up in 5 years but rather that I'll be living with a color that I thought was sharp when just purchased but grew tired of it over the years. If leasing than that's another story since you know you'll only have it for fixed amount of time and might be inclined to favor a bolder color.

Yep.
Crazy when the scapes mode makes you question reality.

Gotcha. I love bold colors on cars the constant black/white/8 zillion versions of Grey is OLD.

Probably the shape of the taillights too.
But the declared width is the same.

It will probably be Red for me. Although I will need to see Neptune Blue on this car in person.

My Civic is Rallye Red, which is essentially the same as Track bRed it appears. I love a bright red car, but it would be nice to mix up the loud colors on my cars. I think this car would look great in the Series.Yellow color that the BRZ had that one year. Shame there isn't a yellow option.

Must be the combination of
a) the duck tail on the Gen2 making it look taller
b) the high contrast thin straight line of the wing/spoiler on the Gen1 adding a visual "anchor" that makes it look wider

Remove the duck tail on the Gen2 and put a medium wing on it that somewhat follows the shape of the trunk
(look up McLaren 570S Novitec Rear Wing), and Gen2 will look at least as good.

it makes sense-- gen 2 is more of an overall bubble/rounded off, where gen 1 is more squared off on the rear.

Interesting comparison shot there - the plate placement is certainly more rational in the new car.
