Red.... hmm

Hey
i want to see people experience with red as i know they fade easily compared to other colors. I never owned a red car and want to hear from you guys who have experience. My situation is red is on top choice of the color for me but the only thing i will be able to shelter is under a car port at best and some bits of the car is going to be exposed to sunlight eventually. I would hate to buy my first new car to see it fade due to uv rays and poor choice of color due to my circumstances so any opinion on what to do would be nice.

Thanks in advance!

I don't believe this is as much an issue since the advent of clear coat and advances in paint tech. I know my wife's '05 Mustang which sits outside in the sun every day when she's at work looks as good now as it did when we bought it, and other than standard washing/waxing, we've done nothing to it. My '85 MR2 was almost pink after not much more time.

That said, I don't have any experience with Subaru paint, so YMMV. I'm sure there are folks much more knowledgeable about paint tech then I am so if its a concern, I'd wait until they give you more than casual advice.

My MY94 WRX was red. Had it for 5 years and only the plastic bonnet vents showed any discolouration in that time.

I have ordered a red 86.

1. Choose red
2. Use the $400 that you save on getting it Opti-Guarded
3. Enjoy your shinny car for the many years to come

By that do you mean more burgandy, because I always considered this color "cherry red".
