I don’t think it will lead to lockdowns or major outbreaks. Most people who would have died have been vaccinated or likely died already. The unvaccinated can take a chance, but sucks for others, especially if we get a variant that circumvents the vaccine because the virus has extra hosts. I think we had seven positives on my shift today and a half dozen more that were specifically there for COVID rule-outs, but were discharged before resulted. Anecdotally, there seems to be an uptick in the ED with an increase in severity compared to the past, even if volume was much higher, and there were more geriatrics sick, so severity in that population was bad. I’ve seen a greater uptick in ICU COVID partients who were relatively young like under 65. The county has only seen a mild uptick with no real uptick in deaths. Just saying this Delta variant is definitely out there and circulating in the unvaccinated community.

Israel data reportedly shows drop in efficacy of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine as delta variant spreads

https://www.google.com/amp/s/fortune...a-variant/amp/

Quote:
The figures show that between May 2 and June 5, the vaccine had a 94.3% efficacy rate. From June 6, five days after the government canceled coronavirus restrictions, until early July, the rate plunged to 64%. A similar decline was recorded in protection against coronavirus symptoms, the report said.
Quote:
Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla has said people will “likely” need a third dose of a Covid-19 vaccine within 12 months of getting fully vaccinated.

Saw that in the news yesterday and aside from the headlines catching my attention, it was a drop from something like from 98% to 95% resistance and still zero life threatening cases.
Pretty much what is expected. Now the next 3 months reporting might also be as expected. Nothing to panic over.

A 30% decrease is significant.

He's not wrong. A 30% decrease is quite significant. It's like ten times more than 3.

I didn't read the link but the one yesterday that I did read was from CNN I think and it was a 3% decrease in resistance. If it was 30% we're in trouble.
