There is a difference between stupid or maliciously ignorant and just misguided. Not saying that all are one or the other, but grouping everyone into a bucket like that makes it harder to successfully bring those that can be convinced around.

For example, people who actually had confirmed Covid-19 before the vaccine was available might not be concerned because, notionally, if a vaccine works, the natural response would have the same effect. If that is not the case, you need to overcome the basic understanding with more advanced knowledge, which is difficult.

Bad things happen to societies when people determine that the differences between them are irreconcilable.

I believe that the standard things used to measure intelligence have little to do with it. I think it comes down to people who make decisions based on fear and self-interest. The same people that rushed the stores for toilet paper are the same ones who say "I got mine. Fuck everybody else." There are degrees, of course, but I think there are those times in life when we have to run into a burning building to save the baby. ...or complete strangers' parents.

Chances are you were already in the spectrum.

Here's a weird one, my father went to see a family Dr. that was a friend of my brother-in-law, who happens to have a lot of doctor friends. This was probably 1.5-2 years ago and my dad was over 90 at the time. The Dr., after speaking with my father for some time came to the conclusion that my dad was in the Asperger's spectrum. This had never been remotely suggested ever before, and when we pieced together a number of details about his life we realized there was a very good chance he was correct. Can you imagine?

Incidentally, for those that don't know, he contracted Covid19 in a senior home around Christmas, likely from the person who assisted his showering a couple times a week, who happened to be off sick shortly before my dad became ill. He passed as a result on Jan 11, 2021. I called him the morning he needed to be hospitalized and he was struggling to catch his breath, and it was terrifying. He was a well known athlete in Toronto in his day, in the newspapers many times as a baseball pitcher in the highest level amateur league. As a kid he won the citywide championships and he also competed provincially. He was also known for having sharp elbows in basketball ,lol. We thought he'd make it to 100 for sure. My uncle Al just turned 100 on June 1.

I guess I took the "stupid" comment as knowingly wrong but frustrated.. so responded in kind.
I know people who are so deep into conspiracies they now see them being verified... Even through nothing has changed about the facts. Upset that grunt workers aren't being forced to keep pushing, keep buying so their portfolio never sees a dip... Can't make money if other people aren't working?... While you sit back and watch.
The games are scary. Cults and gangs work by making you feel like they're the only ones who understand you, only place safe... Conspiracies are so similar, except making you feel understood and smart. Psychological warfare being used against you.

It's scary stuff. Some of it dangerously so. No idea how to start fixing it either. Ignorance is on the part of the victims. Maliciousness on the part of the perpetrators.

Smells like Axe body spray; not sure if I can do it.

Gimme a couple protein shakes and I might be able to do it, maybe some monster energy too.

Can you imagine what young versions of Eric Idle, Michael Palin, Graham Chapman, John Cleese could have done with all this conspiracy shit? I can almost the title - Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Vaccine. It would have loads of entertainment potential if the crowd of maroons that continue to gorge at the conspiracy trough weren't so heavily armed.

I can think of a number of folks to cast as "the Minister of Silly Walks."

Just watched a great PBS special on the search for the polio vaccine on American Experience. Interesting some of the similarities, some of the in-fighting between the live virus and dead virus search for a cure, and some of tactics that went on for testing that would never happen today (tested in orphanages and with special needs kids). Polio was no joke scary stuff. I remember getting the vaccine in the 60s but did not personally know anyone that had it.

You can watch it here if interested.

A number of polio victims didn't survive. I knew probably a half dozen or so survivors growing up. It was a really cruel disease.
