I have wondered about this for a while from a mathematics pov.
I use median just to be clear.

If we have a equal distribution of 50% below the median and 50% above the median does that mean (<- did you see that?) that there are no people at 50%?

Sure, I get what you're saying but it's not like there was a choice. Well, maybe there was a choice (you could have run away from home but you didn't) but what ever path one takes that's the path you've taken. It's not like you can go back and have a different path.*

I'm sorry. I hope he can work through it while there's still time.

This hits home because it was the same with my dad. One of the reasons why I'm so obsessed with a car being clean is probably because my dad used to do the same as yours. Same thing with the lawn, I hate doing it, but the satisfaction of it being beautifully trimmed and mowed pays off. He taught me of take care of my equipment and really appreciate the value of things.

I remember when I was 15, and I had just returned to the U.S after 12 years to finish high school and college. I was absolutely homesick, didn't know the language very well (raised in Honduras), didn't have friends. He told me something one day while I was just crying and what not. "Apreta la verga y la faja, y termina lo que empezaste, que todos estamos haciendo sacrificios". Which crudely translates to "Tighten your d!ck and your belt (Suck it up) and finish what we started, we are all making the sacrifice". So here I am, house bought, finished H.S, university, and finished my military service. I would do it all over again.

Thanks. I don't know why more people can't just accept this.

One of her closest friends married a guy a few years before we met. He wanted kids and she was more like me. At a party once my friend brought their kid while she watched him get all sweet with the kid(6 months or so old) she made the face of someone that just smelled poop and had realized that it was themselves.

Long story short she agreed to get knocked up. I should mention that she's a typical type A highly successful career woman. Well, she complained nonstop about being pregnant and just a few months ago(I think the kids is 2 now) unsolicited came up to me and said, "I hate being a mother. It's the worst and I'm miserable".

The point to this was when my woman told her that she might be this woman encouraged her and said that it was a good thing. As you can imagine I lost my mind when I heard that. If that's not proof that misery loves company I don't know what is. She knows that we don't want that and even more how much I hate the idea of it.

But in the interest of peace I kept my mouth shut. I swear I never get to actually speak my mind and it's maddening. Perhaps one day I'll get hammered and let it out.

It's truly a struggle having a perfectly acceptable minority position on something as ubiquitous as parenting. Until this conversation, I've never really considered it past my mom's story.

I get it.

Today I took the annual ethics and harassment online training.
-For the ethics training, they said ethics decisions aren't always black and white, then proceeded to ask me questions with correct and incorrect answer selections...
-The harassment course had a label on the first page warning me that there were depictions of inappropriate and harassing behavior, so that I could prepare myself in case I was offended at the training showing me how to be inoffensive...

Things like this make me glad I work for a very small company.
