Primarily at this point I'm waiting to see if any of the "low roof" EV options everyone keeps promising come to fruition in the next 12 to 36 months. I'm also looking at this from the prospective of it being a car I may keep into retirement.

Some of it will also depend on whether I replace the 86 or our Suburban first, both of which have almost the same number of miles on them and neither have been very problematic to this point (I'd drive either from Georgia to Oregon today with no concern).

I want to see what the Silverado and Tahoe EVs look like but those are a couple of years out. The Ford Lightning doesn't have the range I would want in an EV, and well, its a Ford.

Also, with used car prices jacked way up, some of the options on my list are stupid money (last gen CTS-V for example, which are selling right now for almost the price they were when new).
What do you want to use the car for? Since you seem pretty intent on going EV then understand that there will be substantial improvements made over the next 10 years. So research the heck out of that shit and I wouldn't recommend entering into the market until at least 2025 if you could possibly avoid it.

The likelihood of getting a lemon EV is going to be high (well higher than normal anyway) for some time.

Actually, I'm not sold on the EV, and what I use the car for would depend on which one I replace. Just keeping my options open.

The 86 is my daily driver/commuter/occasional long trip car. My Suburban is our weekend/vacation/family hauler.

If I'm just replacing my commuter, an EV makes sense, because I can drive it for free (charging at work and home for no cost). I would not replace my "trip car" with an EV though as I'm not going to set out on a round trip in an EV that would require a charge on either leg.

In the end, it's early times in the process.

Man what's with so much hate on the exterior design! IMO this car looks simply stunning the way it is...I think at the first reveal I didn't like the back (as it appears to sit a bit high - almost like a small crossover?), but even that's grown on me.

I think the front end is even better than the GR86.

Pretty or not, thanks again to Subaru and Toyota for updating this car and giving something to the enthusiasts for a reasonable price

I don't get it either. Car looks as good as or better than current-gen (of which I'm a fan) to me.

I especially don't get comments about the new car being "too high". It looks lower to me in most pics. In person, I guarantee it won't look like a "small crossover"!

Agreed! I've never been a fan of huge, tall, gaping-maw grills. Really like the slim (vertically) new BRZ grill and the absence of the moustache. GR86 looks great as well, but so far I prefer the BRZ.

I would have waited if i didnt like the 2020.

Need the pricing information and release date, which we still dont know yet.
But one of the videos said the GR86 premium would start at 31k...so.....might have still ended up with the 2020 anyways due to price.

Looks are subjective. Why are people that think it is butt ugly not allowed to say so? We are not trying to tell others not to like it simply that we do not. That is not “hate” in any way shape or form it is an expression of our opinion.
To me it is still a conglomeration of conflicting lines and tacked on boy racer body kit parts and I will bloody well say that if I want.

I don't see anyone saying or suggesting that...

Persecution complex? Again, nobody saying you can't!

At a certain point, though, do you wonder what you're doing here on a forum for a car that you know you aren't remotely interested in? I mean, I've joined forums for a number of cars I've thought I might be interested in over the years, but I don't hang out on them after I've decided they're not for me.

But sure, feel free to hang out and hate, I know it's an enjoyable pastime for some folks!

There goes the hate word again.
It is very evident that if you don’t like the looks of the new ones you are not supposed to say anything. Only the people praising them are permitted to have an opinion
What do you mean why am I on this forum? It is about more than just the new version you know. Anybody not interested in the new ones should just go away? There are many that feel the same as I do but many simply won’t speak up because all of a sudden they are haters and wrong because they should like it.
