My BRZ falls outside the valve spring recall, but should I pay to have it done anyway at a Toyota dealership just to be safe?

Just do it yourself. Nobody should ever pay to have somebody else work on their car for any reason.

I would take it to a GM dealer, because you know, it says right in the guy's name that he knows what he's doing. How could you be born Mr. Goodwrench and not know how to do a valve spring job....

Will do. Would you recommend two different shops, so I can get a second pair of eyes on it?

I would have it started at one shop and finished at another. That way he can double check the other guys work.

You can do it with a tree branch, block and tackle and a craftsman tool kit. Cam phasing is for pussies

On the second one I'd use lowering springs to close that monster truck valve gap.

Just cut the springs. That is what I did for a 2" drop. Going to make my own widebody kit as well since even Ebay want's too much.

Can do the whole thing for $37.99.

Having trouble with 3rd to 2nd upshifts. Sounds kind of like valve float. Any ideas?
