You're better off petitioning or emailing Toyota-Global, not Toyota USA.

Why does everyone think that if the FT86 fails at Scion, they'll kill Scion and move the FT to Toyota? They'll kill Scion if it fails...and the FT86 with it. I'm sure Toyota is looking for any excuse for this car to fail so that they can spit out more awesome Corolla S'.

Scion brand will not close down even FT-86 fails in the brand because it would lose a lot of money to close down, unless they already lose fair amount of money. In this case, they just kill off the FT-86. Remember that they have another trump card, it's called iQ. iQ will probably be the 2nd best seller of the brand because.....look at gas price now....

1 - Scion sales increase, people look at that brand specifically, buy the 86 and other scions
2 - people are also now into the toyota brand in general, they will move up to a toyota and Lexus.

However if it doesnt work in reviving Scion (but the car is selling well worldwide and by itself) toyota can then rebadge it a Toyota in the US and continue selling it, where it will continue to bring in buyers to the brand just not as a scion

It could get potential buyers back into Toyota. If it was labeled as Toyota. Otherwise it's still going to be a very pricy RWD Scion. And Scion's Philosophy is cheap-performance cars under 20k. This literally contradicts what they want their image to be. This will just lead buyers to look at the Camery and Carolla for their kid who's getting ready to go into college.

That's a gamble.

They're into the brand because of 3 specific cars. Prius, Camery, and Carolla. Depending on the buyer and their financial status-they may-move up the ladder and buy a Lexus. Its likely but all depends on their Financial Status. Also most who are nestled in the Toyota brand will most likely not buy a scion.

Its simple to say to rebadge the car and resell it as a Toyota, but you can't forget. If it fails. Scion fails. The loss of its base buyers (as I've mentioned before) will continue to decrease. Rebadging = New marketing plan and a New marketing plan is costly. The easiest way to prevent anymore loss from toyota (Remember all those Lexus acceleration problems and other malfunctions toyota had) is to simply put the car as a Toyota. Look at how hard Toyota is trying to bring Scion back onto its feet. The best example I can give you is the Scion with the F1 engine used in drifting.

I hope you realize that badging this a Scion instead of a Toyota was already a gamble for Toyota lol.

This car will be Scion's "flagship" car.

People aren't in the brand for 3 cars, Also, they start with a Scion move up to a Toyota and then/or a Lexus.

You seem to have misread or ignore the point. The U.S. does not = the world. This car could sell poorly here as a Scion, but then you need to look at global sales. If this does not perform well in the U.S. Toyota needs to look back and think. Is it because it is a Scion? Yes or no, if yes then should we badge this a Toyota? Lexus? Or scrap it? If no - then why not - performance? Features? Price? Obviously this car is good because the world is buying it but why is it not doing well in the U.S.

Scion failing isn't the best thing for Toyota, however Toyota will cut their losses if needed.

Well said sir.

Edit: I THINK, if the FT-86 fails as a Scion, they will kill FT-86 off. They wouldn't spend that much money to remake the marketing and what not for the car since it's not a volume seller like Camry or Corolla. Maybe re-evaluation will help determine its badge for the next redesign, but I could be wrong.

The U.S. does not = the world.
I was reinforcing the fact that it is a gamble. I wasn't sure if you and I were thinking the same thing. Lol

And of course U.S does not equal the world, but U.S IS the largest market to sell to.
