You guys need to be doing more with these scammers...banning doesn't always work.
Each WTB post gets about 3-4 scammers.

Doesn't this website log incoming IP address? All scammers should be reported to https://www.fbi.gov/investigate/cyber

it's like whack-a-mole. ever tried to get rid of moles?

once you rid yourself of one, 3 more pop up! the volunteer mods here don't get paid enough for a triple full time job that would entail!

Is it possible to deny search-indexing on the For Sale topic? I know this forum is about educating people, and I know I originally found it on Google, but I would think that the For Sale section(s) would not be valuable to a casual internet surfer.

A robots.txt file populated with the proper locations might do the trick.

In the last week there have been no less than 40 new "users" registering and then sending out PMs immediately. Pretty sure I saw this name among them.

Yeah.. Im freshly registered also, and while I've lurked this forum for a while I never did sign up so I was pretty ignorant to how the reports system worked and totally missed that this person had another report of being a scammer that was posted at the beginning of this month. Sadly that led to me falling for their crap. I hate that my first interaction on here was with a scammer. Losing half the agreed-on price does suck but what sucks a lot more is they didn't actually have a resonated midpipe to sell me and my wife has been asking me when I would "fix" my exhaust...

There is a certain element of buyer beware that can be resolved with just a bit of due diligence.
If you receive a PM from a person that just joined or has been here a short time with zero posts just walk away.
There is also a pattern to many bot/spammer/scammer names that although not perfect is usually about 95% accurate.
These all registered within a 1/2 hour period one morning.
