IKEA tables are easy. Usually just the top surface and legs. I have one I've owned since 1987. It is a butcher block type with a dropleaf extension that at the time was our dining table, then moved to being a printer and accessories table next to my computer desk and now is our "we have company we need another table" table. The 3x3 pine legs are held on by wing nuts, takes less than 5 minutes to set up.

So the model forum has these sort of quasi competitions called Group Builds. What it means is that there is a set theme and timeline to build a kit. The current one is "Anything Under a Tenner". It is a UK site so what they mean is under 10 pounds sterling. That means I had $17 to play with.
Well, a couple of years ago I picked up a bargin sooooo.

Not sure where they found them but my local Dollar Tree store had several dozen of this old man no others just this one. It cost me $1.50 Cdn (Nothing in the dollar store only costs a dollar anymore) so that would be .88Gbp. In hindsight I should have grabbed a bunch but figured I would just need one for a 1/32 aircraft diorama some day. May as well build it now though.

It is obviously a new(ish) boxing. Looking it up on Scalemates says 2007 rebox of a 1961 kit. Must have made piles and sold few for it to show up at Dollar Tree!

Hadn't even peeked at it.

LOL and you guys complain about kits from 2007 as "old".

Good thing they have complete instructions!

And here is why I don't trust Amazon to not rip you off even if inadvertently!

"Easy to assemble" - Check

"Authentic scale model" - Well yes it is sort of Ford shaped if you squint just right

"Realistic rubber tires" - Really? Where?

"Detailed chassis" - UMMMM....Well... Ahhhhh...

"Realistic hubcaps" - They are really grasping at straws here.

I just saw an IG group build for stuff a V8 into anything. Lost track of who won.

Do you have any spare 1/32 radial engines from one of your plane models? Can stuff that "under" the hood of that Ford. It'll be unique, and I'm sure it'll give you a podium.

for a detail-specific forum, i doubt it. they're going to categorize finishing quality true to what the real car would look like, not uniqueness.

But the only requirement is under 10 sterling, unless I missed some other details of the group build? That means anything goes as long as it doesn't pass the budget, right?

Finished painting the chassis and suspension bits. The body needs regular clear coat still. Sprayed 1 light and 1 wet coat of pearl clear on it. Honestly can't tell the difference between that and regular clear. Haven't touched the interior yet, but won't be doing leather this time heh

I think most of the guys on the site drove 1940 Fords when they were new. They would call Hum "Junior"! I think the idea of an engine swap would confuse them.

Pretty much. It is the same place where several told me that making a convincing crashed airplane was impossible. They will spend a fortune on photoetch and resin detail sets because the kit has a gauge that is a scale half inch out of position on a instrument panel. Most of them also make spotlessly clean aircraft and even tanks. I have never seen a spotlessly clean tank.

Rat rod would be OK.
I want to do it newish stock though since I will use it on a diorama with a 1/32 WW2 plane.
Thinking to use with these figures and aircraft.

Just make it detailed like how you make your planes. Don't need to worry about super glossy paint, since cars back then weren't clear coated, right?

Yep. Just red enamel. The thing is that it is literally a sort of car shaped lump of plastic so I will have to get really creative to even come close to looking real.
