That was kind of my point from the time you said "overblown, just like IMS failures".

No, engines consuming a bit of oil is not at all comparable to IMS bearings disintegrating and destroying engines...

Okay as one of the few on this board as an ACTUAL mechanic and an ACTUAL machinist..

1) OEMs claim the 1qt oil burned everyone 1000miles and as a way to protect themselves from lawsuits. Ever hear of the legendary 22RE motor or quite frankly any older toyota engine. Fucker could have 300,000miles and not burn that much...but a brand new ford explor

2) If Subaru had oil control ring problems because they were not strong enough resistance due to them trying to reduce friction to hit higher MPG , you really think another OEM didn't fuck that up either??

Add to the IMS failures D-chunk, bore-scoring, and poor oiling (one of our own lost his 987.1 Cayman S to this), those engines were kinda garbage...

Different league of problem levels vs. 1qt/1000 mile oil consumption.

LOL!
Just like when radiation levels in milk exceed, "normal" levels, they increase the norm. 1qt/1000 is unacceptable.
My '07 Mazdaspeed3 was consuming 1qt/1000, and the dealer told me it was within acceptable levels. Guess what the leakdown test showed? 31% leak past the piston in Cyl 3 attributed to a broken ring land.

All the cars are awful. If they are going to build these things they should commit to making parts that help make a car look like a car.
