Of course there’s the issue of property damage by running into a wall. I was using it as a rough metaphor comparing actions that only affect oneself vs. those that cause harm to others. Even driving alone in a car off a cliff or bridge will “cost” society something for removal.

The point was the immorality of knowingly and intentionally exposing unwilling people to potential illness and death. Spraying virions instead of bullets. No one has the right to do that to another person.

As I said before, this is not about someone's personal 'freedom'. Not getting vaccinated is not a ‘personal choice’. A personal choice is something that only affects you alone and no one else. Anyone can do whatever they want in a vacuum, but no one has the right to harm other people. Not getting vaccinated puts many people at risk of illness or death.

It’s like the difference between choosing to drive your car into a wall vs. driving the wrong way in the oncoming lane on the highway. The former might be your own personal choice to kill yourself. But the latter immorally puts many people at great risk against their will.

If you saw someone going the wrong way coming at you in your lane on the highway, you probably wouldn't cheer them on for exercising their personal 'freedom’. Not getting vaccinated forces a risk on anyone that a non-vaccinated person comes in contact with.

Unfortunately, this kind of thinking is why this country will never be rid of the coronavirus. Our future will be one of pandemic spikes and waves, variants coming and going, and fluctuating effectiveness of vaccines. Similar to what happens now with the flu, except that COVID carries a much higher risk of serious long-term health complications, and death.

As a society, we have accepted a high level of disease burden, and death, as being OK (see: Florida). Which I think says a lot about our morality, ethics, intelligence, and simply humanity. Or lack of it.

I do think people should have a right to choose what they want or not want injected into their body, lol. It's a sad day when I even need to say that. I guess we gave up all our other rights already this is probably next on the list.

Same people who do not want to get the vaccine are the same people (speaking from people I know personally) who cannot wear a proper mask, or if they do, they don't wear them correctly. Same people who choose not to follow any other safety guidelines. So while we are given other avenues to try to stop this virus, these same people just call every single one of those avenues "stupid," "unnecessary, or "government control."

That may be true, maybe not. Regardless I do believe it is their right to choose what gets injected into their body.

You are over generalizing. Most of the ones I know that don’t want it want it to be fully FDA approved before they are willing to take it. They don’t trust it due to how quickly it was developed.

My recent cross country travel also showed me that most people will break the guidelines when they become inconvenient to them.

These same people I'm talking about have repeatedly said they will never get the vaccine. One of them even told me that when no one was even talking to him (just overheard someone else talking to me about the vaccine).

Although, I wish I can say that their reasons are for not trusting it based on the development rate. Various reasons I've heard them say is the usual "tracking device blah blah," "don't want to be controlled by the government," "no benefit to it," "what's the point when a booster is needed."
