The firefighter analogy made for interesting reading. It is true that in most, but not all, jurisdictions their job is to put out the fire, full stop. However, the circumstances in which the ire started can have a variety of consequences if a person started it. Obviously, arson is a criminal act. In most places, if someone dies in an arson related fire, a murder charge follows. But even unintentionally started fires can boomerang back to the firebug. Suppose you do something really stupid and a large brush fire results. In a lot of places, you may very well be billed for the cost of fighting the fire. That can run into real money. On the off chance one of the personnel fighting the fire is killed fighting it, you can expect a homicide charge. It would be interesting to see that same logic applied to anti-vaxers.

Perhaps she wasn't vaccinated. Perhaps she caught the virus sometime back and has been luxuriating on a ventilator for weeks. Perhaps her employer was negligent in vaccinating their workforce. Regardless, what does it have to do with potential mutations developing among the great voluntarily unvaxed and being inflicted on the rest of society?
As I mentioned sometime back, we still have the opportunity to fuck this whole thing up. From what I've read Modi/India got complacent and are paying a very heavy price for his arrogance. There's a lesson in there somewhere.

In the first book Rambo dies. The test audience for the movie didn't like that so the script was rewritten.

My former employer of 17 years ordered their sales team to work during full lockdown. They had half staff per day in the office, around 25 people. The reason? Sales are better than when they work from home. I left disgruntled in 2019 and was so tempted to blow the whistle on those greedy pieces of shit. Then I decided it has minimal effect on me and wasn't worth the time.

I was under the understanding it did actually start in Wuhan as well. And it probably* didn't come from bats, it was that lab. But it's not as malicious as people make it sound it was worldwide (funded) effort to fight SARS but it was unfortunately being run in a cheap Chinese lab. Now maybe that's where the racism really was... like hey let's just do it over there.. So I don't think it was malicious unless it was some disgruntled employees or something but I feel like despite the conditions in China its more likely it was just an accident that was pinned on the Chinese even though it was a worldwide effort (at least in terms financial backing) to fight the SARS epidemic. (But this is also what makes me hesitant to take the vaccine because it seems like throwing good money after bad like hey we screwed up but take this we made too to fix it)...
