OK Mustang kit has arrived but before I can construct I have to do some deconstruction. This will be the third nice Tamiya kit in a row that the first thing I did was break out the saw and cut it up!

This very picture.
I think it fell off more than was cut though.
Mustangs wrecking performing for crowds is obviously much older than we ever thought!

Well, it looks like they got the landing gear down before the tail fell off. Do you know if it was moved from the original crash site at all?

Crashed on what looks like a plowed field.
The disassembled pictures are on long grass.
The recovery truck is even in the crash scene picture.

My guess is that they lifted it and lowered the gear in the hopes it would hold together enough to be towed. It didn't.

Ah ok, I wasn't sure if it was just a trick of different cameras messing with me.

Found LEDs that are the same size as the "projectors" that I drilled out. Perfect fit. Didn't have to drill into the shrouds. Time to drill holes for the taillights.

Wtf, the forum flipped the second pic upside down. Bah

Lighting is something I have never tackled! It scares me.

It's not too bad. Would really help if you had a small/tiny soldering tip. Mine is a larger tip, so it makes soldering these these LEDs, especially the SMD ones, really hard.

I'm sure you have the skills, and then some, to tackle on lighting. Although, I'm not really sure what exterior lighting planes have.

Not enough to make lighting worthwhile. I could do some sci-fi though. A nice Terminator hunter killer.

Yea, unless it's a search and rescue, or maybe a airliner (Internal lighting), you pretty much have Nav lights (green and red), strobe lights (blinking white lights) and a landing light. You could also light up the instrument panel.

Instrument panel would be cool, but how would you back light a decal (assuming a decal is used)? That's one reason why I never attempted to put lights behind the gauges in the car models. Lol

Do these fighter planes even have those external lights listed? Would have thought they wouldn't want any lighting on the exterior to make it more difficult to see. Then again, I know nothing when it comes to planes.
