This is how I feel too. This and perhaps the upcoming Miata* feel like they’ll be the last hurrah of the classic British sports car.

*Assuming the Miata doesn’t lose its edge by potentially going hybrid. Not saying you can’t build a compelling hybrid sports car, but it’s hard.

That's the first thing I thought when I saw how incremental of a step forward the car was. They aren't interested in getting any of us to trade in and buy a new one. At least not as much as people think they are.. The new gen is for the next generation of buyers.

It's all in the lighting imo. I like the car so far. We'll find out more when someone actually drives it but I like what it stands for.

Even though I've owned Toyotas in the past, haven't had one in a while. I guess I'm part of their target audience. Would have bought a new Gen1 if they were still producing them but with the release of the Gen2 in the near future, I'm willing to wait for all the in depth reviews, road tests, seeing it in person and test drive before putting a deposit on one.

Probably partially the lighting. I think the tailights fitting more flush vs how the first time gen out more that throws me off.

The only thing I can see potentially hurting sales is the price increase.
If they really wanted to sell more units they'd offer an upmarket trim with turbo.

They can't do a turbo. Check out the forced induction forum. After 8 years they're still not reliable.

Found a new thing for y'all to complain about

The center console is completely different between the MT and Auto. The MT looses the cubby hole / cup holder..

I think the rear can improve a lot with the addition of a wing on the trunk.

This is probably too much but...

Eh, that cup holder is in the most useless spot anyway. They might still have cup holder insert in the armrest when it’s open.

Not really a fan for the exaggerated side pod things under the door, I get fixated by them and can’t see the rest of the car…

But, After seeing these Side skirts hiding most of it I could find the rest easier to view and a good way to relieve my objections.

The wing and drop is maybe a bit much though.

That's my thinking - any water bottles or cups will be in the way while shifting. That being said, that blank expanse of plastic looks pretty blah.

If one were so inclined, I imagine that chunk of the console could probably be swapped out anyway.
